Does anyone else loathe housework as much as I do? I mean, really hate it with a passion. I've tried being Zen and Buddhist about it to no avail. I've only cleaned the upstairs bathroom so far and I'm already grumpy, exhausted, and worst of all, have broken a nail (despite wearing rubber gloves). Grrrr! |

"I don't really understand people that do housework. Assuming you have a job that pays better than minimum wage, wouldn't most people rather work an extra hour or two in order to pay a cleaner? "
Indeed! Now that I have just started working full-time again, why should I waste precious hours of my free time in domestic drudgery? |

It’s lovely, come home from work on a Friday & the place is sparkling for the weekend just maintain a bit during the week |

I hate it too .. in fact I’ve decided I’m going to look for a cleaner for a couple hours a week to do the big jobs
Working full time etc I just hate my weekends taken up catching up on bloody housework |

I've heard some people say they enjoy it or "nobody meets my standards", fair enough. But neither of us do Any housework because we both loath it and a cleaner is £11 an hour, 4 hours gets your house spotless. |

I'm the strange one that actually enjoys it! 15 minutes to half an hour of an evening each evening before bed and it doesn't build up. What I do dispise though is ironing. Can't stand it! |

My laundrette will take a worn shirt, wash it and iron it for £2!!! Life is really too short to be doing things you hate. |

I'm with you OP - housework is pure drudgery!
Especially as it's always done in my limited time off work.
I can't justify having a cleaner - and I don't like the thought of someone going through my stuff - so I have to suffer it
I'm doing a good Job of ignoring it today - I just don't want to! |

My Stepmum heard I had a cleaner hit the roof and now does it for me. Bonus she even does the ironing which the cleaner didn’t.
Keeps her busy and gets her out the house. I just take them out for a meal every so often to say thank you. Win win. |

Yes I understand that. You have to find the right cleaner and trust them (eg not to unplug the fridge to plug in the hoover, which happened to me once)! |

You should have been at mine this morning
The big clear up after a party last night it was carnage when I open the kitchen and lounge doors I’m nearly there but jeeez I feel as if I’ve cleaned the whole house two days in a row |

Nooooo. My mother used Zoflora and there was only a couple of scents available. Now there are loads, and the smell lingers for ages |

I don't mind it at all. I tend to clean as I go so never have a big cleaning day....15 mins a day is all you need. I much prefer to clean than sit and see something that's dirty or untidy x |

We had a cleaner but I like things a certain way to a certain standard. And I love the smell of bleach and zoflora. So would rather do it myself.
I like watching the robot hoover whizz past while I have a coffee

I've just done the annual beeswax polish of my bedroom furniture, and a thorough hoover whilst sat on the bed. With being disabled, my teenage son helps as much as he can but his vision of thorough and mine are levels apart. I can do somethings but need help with the larger jobs. |

It’s all about having a routine. Start high work low. Cleaning is easy, tidying is harder.
Bedroom make your bed first then chuck everything on your bed whilst you polish any surfaces, or if there’s clothes to put away or to the washing basket. High sister around all the tops of your walls and down the corners of the room, wipe over skirts light fittings and door frames.
Bathrooms are easy enough, sitting room high dust again and down the corners, light fittings, skirts, door frames, plump cushions on sofa, dust all surfaces, TVs etc. Kitchens are easy enough, Hoover and moo everywhere at the end. Wipe over radiators with fabric softener. Zaflora on your floors.
I must be a freak because I enjoy cleaning or more the satisfaction of sitting in the evening with a cuppa tea and everywhere is tidy. |

I suppose its the good thing about being a clean freak. Every thing gets done as the mess is made.
I’ve often found myself turning the washing machine on for one white t shirt, a white pair of socks and boxers.
I’m just weird. |

I'll happily admit I'm a loser haha. My place always smells amazing! The smell of zoflora or dettol and a good old yankee candle perhaps I should buy less Yankees and buy more nice lingerie now I seem to be going to clubs more can never have enough! |

My wetroom & kitchen are always spotless, but the rest of the house?
*Sigh!
I'm mid building work, I have a huge cleaning spree at the end of the week.
Bring in teenagers, and another big clean up after the weekend.
All I seem to do is tidy, but I've come to the conclusion no matter much I tidy my house will never look tidy.
Too many tidys in this post?
Yes I hate housework.

Not a huge fan of it esp as live alone and rarely have visitors. Though of course it gets an extra look over if anyone coming over.
Agree that breaking it down to small tasks helps, as sometimes does putting on a uniform as can imagine am cleaning for some one else |

If I could afford a cleaner I’d most definitely employ one!
As it is - I’m off to clean my bathrooms now! I’ve put it off far too long! |

Don’t most people tidy the house before the cleaner gets there, cause they don’t want to be seen living in a tip. |

Yep. Although usually it’s because a cleaner can’t clean if they have to tidy up first |
