Are there any chocolates, other sweet stuff or savoury food(apart from the Christmas meal) you associate just with Christmas that are must haves in your home for over the Christmas season ? |

Jelly orange and lemon slices.
A big tub of Quality Street (although they’re not as big as they were!)
Brandy butter.
Yule logs .. do they count?
Mini sausages and sausage rolls etc for the evening buffet. |

"Hairy nuts
.... no, not ^those^ kind of hairy nuts! It's a Hairy Bikers recipe for sticky spicy nuts that I make a huge batch of for Christmas.
And lebkuchen "
Is that their macadamia nut recipe they did on their television series? |

That's the one, but I stick all sorts of nuts in and multiply the quantities by about 10! |

They looked really nice and so easy to make. I like Christmas cooking programs. |

"After Eight mints
Orange and lemon sugar segments
Lots of nibbles like nuts, pretzels, pringles
It wouldn’t be right within them "
Oh I’d forgotten about the orange and lemons the only thing my brother and I agree on |

"After eights"
Associated them with curry houses more than Christmas
Same goes for most of the choc singles
Speaking of mint chocolate singles, anyone remember mingles? |

I know you asked about food and specifically sweet foods but I have to mention the mulled wine. We make our own and the smell of the spice around the house is just Christmas |

Children were happy with what was available at the time. That's all. |

Even my kids were and they didn't get to choose all their presents. Apart from some trainers one year my kids never knew anything they were getting. |

"Do you remember those boxes of dates that were around each Christmas?!?..."
My date always had them.
We only ever had sage and onion stuffing on Christmas day and the smell of it still reminds me of Christmas. |

Neither did we. We'd write wish lists but children have been writing letters to santa for years so that's nothing new. There was never a guarantee you would get everything or even anything off the list. |

I never wrote a wish list and neither did my children.
My granddaughter has a few A4 pages every year. |

I'm so excited about having all the Christmas food that I only have this time of year.
Mince pies ( hot with cream obviously )
ALL the cheeses with pickles and stuff.
Twiglets
Shell on nuts
Turkey and stuffing sandwiches
Pigs in blankets
These are just a few things - I'm going to Waitrose to spend a small fortune on all the yummy things |
