It's true... most new cars now come with a can of foam sealant and a plug in compressor instead. This should get you going again in most minor puncture situations.
The tyre & tools kit is available as an added extra, or you'll probable be able to buy one on ebay.

Yea. New cars like this now.
Spare wheel + jack etc you’d have to pay extra for now.
I was given a suggestion that a scrap yard would be able to give you spare tyre + jack set, for cheaper.

Black circles will sort it
Cheaper tyres and for 6 quid they will get a local garage to come fit it. My tyres are RRP at 200 quid.... The tyre AND the fitting was 82 ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

A number of manufacturers have been moving away from fitting spare wheels for a number of reasons.
I remember, back in the day, when your spare matched all the other wheels (even alloys), but as wheel and tyre sizes keep growing, it becomes less practical to have a full sized spare - which is why we started getting space savers? But even they have been growing in size.
You also have to consider that there is a cost element to this - a big factor that is considered by the motor manufacturers.
Another thing to consider is how many drivers are actually capable (or even willing) to change a wheel at the roadside? In the pissing rain?
I think there are far too many snowflakes about these days, lol, and the car makers know this.
Plus, with many new cars, a years breakdown cover is included (and many insurance companies include it too - mine does) so for many, it's much easier to call for breakdown assistance.
There are also a handful of firms doing mobile tyre fitting, so really is there any reason to lug around a heavy spare in the boot when, honestly, you don't need to anymore. |

And then there’s simple economics. Missing out the spare means that effectively for every for cars the fifth is turned for free.
Btw run flats are not for long term use. They are designed to get you going and to get somewhere safe only. |

Can of foam and compressor in our car it is very disconcerting but I also have a couple of mobile tire fitters in my mobile and would probably ring one of them should I get a flat. |
