Ok I am not asking for the best and most perfect album of all time as it's open to person preference.
But what about genres.
So for me the pretty much perfect album within the electronic/ dance genre
Has to be chemical brothers.
Further
It's just perfection and the production is faultless.
So what do you consider the best album of its genre? |

I always though Pinky & Perky were unrivalled in the singing pig world. |

Not the most successful band of the 2Tone/ska revival era, The Beat's "Just Can't Stop it" was packed with finely polished pop tunes, every bit as good as anything offered by The Specials or Madness.
Best of the genre? Posdibly so. |

"AC/DC - Back in Black one of THE top selling albums of all time. "
The fist band that ever saw(with Bon Scot in 1977), but what a comeback album that was! I had half a day off work to go and buy it on its release date and Back In Black is the only ringtone that I have ever had |

A very good call although I'd argue that although they were all lumped together under the Two Tone label the three can't really be compared as their sounds are actually distinctly different - The Specials were more punk/ska fusion, whereas Madness were more pub rock inspired and The Beat more melodic.
I Just Can't Stop It though is indeed a fine and much underrated album, and The Beat are very much overlooked and left in the shadow, by some, of both Madness and The Specials when recalling that era - the fact that almost 40 years later Dave Wakeling has just released a new album "Here We Go Love" that sits almost seamlessly alongside "I Just Can't Stop It" is both testament to his song writing skills and the longevity of the earlier release |

A couple of perfectly crafted albums that don't really fit any particular genre but that flow seamlessly from track to track and don't have a single track that I consider filler:
Searching For The Young Soul Rebels - Dexys Midnight Runners - everyone knows Geno, and some may know the other singles on the album but as a whole it's driven from start to finish by a fantastic brass section, some inspired lyrics and plaintive soul vocal fro m Kevin Rowland.
The Liberty Of Norton Folgate - Madness - inspired by London, and finally the album that got the band the critical acclaim they deserved for being more than "the Nutty Boys who make funny videos", it's sublime and the deluxe 21 track version takes you on a musical journey that peaks with the 9 minute 42 second masterpiece that is the album title but tells simple tales of life as only Madness can, with humour, a dose of deadpan and a finely crafted melody.
Steve McQueen - Prefab Sprout - probably one of the most underrated songwriters of jot only his generation, but any generation, this is Paddy McAloon at his absolute best - it's a work of beauty that doesn't have a single bad track, and uplifts you completely at every listen. |

Oh and to throw another two into the mix (mainly because I can never decide which I prefer) All Mod Cons and Setting Sons by The Jam both of them absolutely nailed on belters of albums - people tend to forget just how big The Jam were at the time churning out a string of number 1's (three of which went straight in at the top - which was an achievement back then) - both albums are full of absolute classic song writing from Paul Weller who seemed to have a knack for writing a kitchen sink drama encapsulated in 3 minute songs - they both still get regular listens here. |

Theodore and friends by The Adventures. Classic album, mixed with various subjects and styles should have been massive, but like so many before them and since, didn't kick on as much as they should have. |

"Anyone noticed most good stuff is many years old"
Probably because it takes time to pass to achieve legendary status - that said there have been some great albums in recent years Biffy's Elipsis and Muse's Drones spring immediately to mind |
