"Humans are very adaptable. Climate change will be gradual and humans will adapt to the changes."

Have you glanced at the UN IPCC report? Or just paid attention. Climate change is happening very very quickly and a small change in temy erasure is going to have cataclysmic effects. How will we adapt to say 165million Bangladeshi refugees when their country goes under water? How do you adapt to species extinction and it's impact on the food chain? To water shortage and the social unrest when resources run thin?

"I do think about it. I wonder how much of our island will disappear or if we really will have another ice age."
our island is still changing shape and level as a consequence of the last ice age sheet and isostatic rebound. More interesting is the sawtooth pattern in stadial /interstadial

Climate changes, period of calm, then quickly rising temperatures before a steep drop into an ice age.

So a good question is, are the temps going up because of global warming or going up as the prelude to global cooling.

Who's interest is it in to 'spin' environmental collapse? And what do they gain by telling such 'lies'?

Capitalism and the powers that be have a strong vested interest in keeping everything the same, deny climate change and consume, consume, consume.

Of course believe why you want but, climate change is something that happens every few millennia or so. We are just living through that same “change” now, granted as moderately advanced humans we aren’t helping things but it’s not as drastic as the media makes you believe.

We are fucking up this planet it’s abundantly clear. India and China are currently doing their very best to harm it at an alarming rate in the name of rampant manufacturing.

My recent holiday and seeing all the plastic in the ocean saddened me. (Not quite changing the climate but fucking the world up all the same)

We are circling the drain whether that happens in a 100 years or a thousand.

Hmmm I'm quite sceptical about this, but I generally live as though it's true.

I'm the only one in my house who recycles.

Fun fact: I don't use any heating whatsoever. I switch all lights off when not in use, including after my housemates who leave them on like it's going out of fashion!!

I drive like a granny to save fuel. I have to drive for my job. Before that I cycled everywhere, even 20miles+ each way.

I don't burn stacks of tyres in my garden.

With that out of the way, I don't believe sea levels are rising, since even if all ice did melt, I don't think it quite works that way. I refer to the ice in a glass of water test again, in which the ice melts but the water doesn't rise.

I think a lot of scientists don't believe in this issue but they just get dismissed out of hand, regardless of the veracity of their evidence. The power is with those who agree. And I don't believe scientists are immune to being swayed by money or bias either way.

I'm more careful with what I hear from the popular media these days, given that we've been seriously misled, and even told some outrageous lies regarding other things in recent times.

Lets see what laws get brought in as a result of this, and whether they just so happen to impinge on our freedom (and make it more difficult for citizens to fight back in a hypothetical scenario in which the state becomes just a bit too controlling and heavy handed).

Keeping one eye on developments.

the planet is changing and always have been changing, yes we can change but it takes the world largest country's to change and help, not the small country's. china india is the main two who pollute.

the honest truth is it will be too late when a natural disaster happens again or ice age or major change in the planet, no country listens to the past mistakes on any matter.

overpopulation and food sources are the major problem this planet has and will happen i think i read it was by 2025-2030 we wont have enough food to feed everyone as more farms are closing and population is increasing at a alarming rate.

anyway we are doomed, no jobs when artificial intelligence takes over, time for war to wipe most off the planet.

Climate change is an issue. In part its a natural process but one that has been accelerated by human action.

But other concerns should be:

Moor's law is falling over as we are reaching the densisty limits on computer chips

Rare earth elements are becomming increasingly scarse and expensive.

Antibiotic resistance is growing fast.

Biodiversity is shrinking fast.

Climate change is just one of a number of things to be aware of.

The last time there was this much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere homosapiens didn't exist and the oceans were 100 ft higher .Its irrefutable that the extra co2 in the atmosphere is man made as it has completely different isotopic fingerprint than co2 released from natural sources.

But hey fuck the science let's use Fred an Wilma and some irrelevant reference to the first ice age when homosapiens weren't even around ..

Ah. It’s just natural. Care to share what you know that virtually every climate expert doesn’t know?

It’s always amazing that random people on the internet seem to know the most about things.

"Climate change is an issue.

Climate change is just one of a number of things to be aware of."

The antibiotic thing is actually pretty scary. There was a positive story in the news quite recently though about some new breakthrough.

Trying to solve problems that don't have solutions is like finding a solution and looking for a problem to fit it.

I'm no expert but I think I can safely say we're not getting off hydrocarbon fuels for a few hundred years at least, now if you start to become a realist (typical conservative) instead of a fantasist(typical socialist) we might make in roads in solving the problems that may cause, the real problem is socialists run the climate change agenda and we all know what there like

"Climate change is just a hoax "

Indeed. The Earth goes through extreme heating and cooling cycles. There have been several ice ages thus far, and obviously the Earth comes out of these and heats up, quite dramatically, until it hits a peak. Then the cooling process begins. It's a repetitive cycle.

Now, according to various Governments, we're all to blame for it! And guess what, they're using it to make money with various "green taxes" and "stealth taxes".

Who'd have thought...

No. According to virtually all peer reviews science on the subject.

Yes, there have been heating and cooling cycles before, but I suppose it’s a massive coincidence that we’re seeing particularly extreme heating cycle which has coincided with the time since the industrial revolution?

About 25% of all marine life would die as a result.

You could compare it with killing 25% of all land animals.

Of course it also has a financial cost to fishing and food supplies.Which will be devastating to many economies.

Lets say I'll go along with your assumption on climate change and it's a mega bad deal we're going to get?

What's your solution, I mean what do we have to do according to the science you keep going on about to stop it?

This isn't going to get an answer is it. Lefties never really get past the 'raising awareness' stage of much. They are good with their chants, protests and signs but not so much with the policy if you happen to agree with them.

Why is the term ‘leftie’ always bandied about as a derogatory term, as though things like fairness and equality are bad things?

I think that’s all a very cliched view to be honest - there are plenty of solutions to plenty of problems.

It's the language of the extreme far right knuckle draggers...Some cunts just want to lynch motherfuckers and watch the world burn.."

The language of the anti-human extreme left is to call humans a plague on the earth and complain its overpopulated. The only thing it's over populated with is vegans.

"It's not in my remit to decide which animals survive and which go extinct, we all go extinct sooner or later for various reasons.

There's some sort of God delusion with socialists where they just can't grasp the reality of life.

It's why they've always been hell bent on atheism, they need to destroy God so they can take it's place.

Is that what you'll say to future generations when they ask you why you chose not to address climate change?

How about we hear some of the solutions since you have plenty...

Fertility, the natural capacity to produce offspring, is absolutely fine. Rich countries just choose to have less children. There's one solution for the left, help everyone get rich by embracing capitalism and then the population would plummet.

Wrong again.

Research in the Lancet shows that 91 of 195 nations now have fertility rates below replacement level .

Global fertility rate has halved since 1950.In 2018 worldwide total fertility rate is 2.4 births per woman, down from around five in the 1960s.

Just sayin...

"TELL US ALL WHAT THE SOLUTION IS??"

Well, assuming a big part of the problem is the amount of CO2 emissions, I’m guessing a big part of the solution is a reduction in CO2 emissions.

Remember when there was all the stuff about the hole in the ozone layer? A big part of that problem was the amount of CFCs. There was a crackpot theory that reducing the use of CFCs would help reverse the damage. Which is precisely what is now happening.

This notion that there are no solutions to problems is nonsense.

But the sea- and sea-grass suck the carbon out of the water and thrive. On one side of australia the sea grass is growing at a magnificent rate which is benefiting sea turtles enormously, and on the other the sea coral is struggling.

Off the coast of africa they can not recall seeing sea forrest so vibrant ever. They are full of octopus, and fish and small sharks now, and with protection for otters the otters are thriving.

Your right the carbon is also greening the planet. However the oceans have been holding off climate change by absorbing all the excess carbon but if it's not by absorbed by plants its dissolved into the ocean creating acidification.

More trees would help prevent ocean acidification but the rapid deforestation of the earth is adding to the problem.

Climate change is a big challenge for the planet, and requires action at a large scale by all levels of government .

What we need is a low carbon economy with minimal use of fossil fuels.

The age of oil is over and the divestment has already begun .As Arnold Schwarzenegger said, “I don’t want to be the last investor in Blockbuster as Netflix emerged.”

I’m not sure what your point is. I’m not claiming to be enough of an expert to know stuff like that. But presumably amongst all the scientific data a lot of that will be known, or at least reasonably estimated.

It’s the equivalent of me telling you that you would probably die if you jumped off a tall building, and you asking for specifics about your rate of acceleration as you fell, your terminal velocity, and the energy created by your impact with ground. You don’t need to know those things to realise that not jumping is probably a good idea.

I disagree with the notion that that unless we know that data exactly, then it’s a waste of time to do anything.

There is no solution, it's as simple as that. It's called evolution.

As I previously said, there have been 4 Ice age melts on Earth, we are in the 5th Ice Age at this very moment, the 4 others melted without human interference and what ever you all think about saving the Earth this one will melt aswell.

If you want to believe buying electric cars, or non use of aersols, or anything else will stop the melt then good for you.

Did you read that in a scientific paper.

So what your saying is the by banning CFCs this had no effect on the ozone layer .??
