Can you be a wheelchair user and a swinger?

As some of you know, I had an accident recently, broke my knee, badly. At the moment, I still haven't got my mobility back, use wheelchair or frame to move around. Last Friday, me and my very special friend, we went to a swingers club together, after checking the club would be ok to have a wheelchair user on their premises. I was very aware that quite a few areas of the club would be inaccessible for me, but still wanted to come as was missing the atmosphere.

I am painfully aware that there are at least 2 clubs that I know where I would not even be able to get through the door in a wheelchair. My question, therefore, is: do you have to be able-bodied to swing? And I don't even mean accessing clubs, but even just do regular meets. As I had a feeling in the club that some guys were only chatting with me because I was the 'chick on wheels', unable to 'escape' quickly enough.

Again, do people from Fab think you need to be able-bodied to swing?

Everyone can normally adapt to what they can physically manage in everyday life so why not when swinging ?

I saw a guy last week who was severely disabled - and not through an accident

He was in a motorised chair and was quite obviously dependent on it for mobility

He was on Grindr

I thought fkin good luck to him

Ashbourne(ish) and Chesterfield(ish)

Firstly, I hope that you rehabilitation goes well. I don't even notice wheelchairs, my wife has had to use one on occasion and they are just an aid.

Anyone can swing and have fun inline with their libido, wants and desires. We are all human and everyone deserves to be respected and if I ended up chatting to you it would not be because you couldn't get away it would be because I enjoy chatting to you as a person, not a disability.

somewhere in the Shire of Derby

I've been an above knee amputee for 25 years and on Fab for over 9 years. My disability has never been a problem, Permanently use crutches to get about, I sometimes wear my prosthetic leg as well or use my wheelchair.

I'm in the exact same position as you at the moment, using a wheelchair and zimmer frame and also have the external frame and pins. I've stopped meeting and going to clubs for the moment, I'm just not mobile enough yet and in too much pain. As I enjoy clubs as well I may as well wait till I'm better. Glad you managed to get out and have some fun, just read your blog too and it was very much like my experience!

Brighton - even Hove!

I’ve seen ‘disabled’ swingers on here. I don’t think it matters one jot. Not for me anyway.

most fundamental aspects

In 2013 I broke my neck. it was a c5/c6 fracture which affects the upper limbs.

It was a frightening time and a battle to get back to post accident fitness.

After only a few months, a play partner visited and I wasn’t sure how it would go. Though not as active as I would like to have been, I got the encouragement from her that transcended any physio’s update: “you have magic hands”. It’s not about ever focusing on what you can’t do, rather on what you can.

Far from sex being a final objective for recovery, it can be an active aid towards it. I wish you well with your recovery.

Thank you . I'm hoping to be back to weight bearing soon, but I know I won't get full mobility straight away.

And I agree, at my very first meet after the accident, I was very apprehensive and afraid, but my friend was very gentle, working with what I could do.

I'm lucky as I have great special friends who push me out of my comfort zone but within reason. And yes, it may not be a strictly orthodox physio, but is still physio .

I hope your ex-fix is not as big as mine was, mine covered my left leg from hip to ankle and was called Igor the Brute. Hopefully you'll get rid of your frame soon and will be back to enjoying yourself

You don't have to go to clubs to be a swinger as far as I am aware and if you manage in your own home and people are prepared to visit you I would have thought there was little issues. Swinging is a broad term these days to most so I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you,

Mine is a different design to the one you had but just as enormous, possibly even bigger as I have 16 pins in total.
