We used to have one in our little village but it closed due to government cuts, the next nearest one to us was 5 miles away in the next village but that closed today. I loved to get books and C.d's out but now its a trip into Sunderland for the nearest one and its a bit of a hike |

I'm really lucky in that there is one at the end of my street. I used to spend so much time there when I was studying for my degree. I go regular now, but not as often, only borrow books.
It was threatened with closure a couple of years ago, but as a community we fought the closure and now it's kept going with a combination of paid staff and volunteers. |

I don't tend use the one closest to me but often use the main one in the town centre when at work, as it is more than just a library.
Locally libraries have been able to remain open, by linking them up with other services. We even have one local library in a leisure centre.

I do have one in my main town and use it regulary. Usually for ordering books in from the bigger city library as mine is small and never has anything in it |

I used the libraries in Bristol quite frequently when my printer at home wasn't working.
They are shrinking, too.
It's a shame, because their PC stations open up the world of the internet to those who, for whatever reason, do not have access at home.
I noticed a lot of education programmes, too. Language classes. Jobs fayres, that kinda thing.
Austerity takes resources away from those in greatest needed and redistributes it to those in least need in the form of reductions in their tax bill.
And people wonder why the public gave the establishment a good kicking in the EU referendum?

I avoid my actual local library it's full of professionals using it as base to meet clients and I know most personally local people and professionally it makes me nervous so I travel far out of town when can get a lift. As its not used for a base. |
