Lots of things were openly thought of as vile or disgusting in the Victorian times but were rampant behind closed doors, riddled with hypocrisy the Victorians. |

Probably not for the majority and acceptance of 'homosexuality as normal in society' is also up for debate. I do believe people are more aware but not necessarily accepting. |

Anal sex was traditionally a form of contraception amongst the poorer classes,which coupled with the cleanliness aspect made it taboo,not to mention the religious objections.
I don't think society is much more tolerant in general, but better educated ,thus its grudgingly accepted |

It goes a lot further back than the Victorians, I believe it goes back to the roman Catholic Church in the Middle Ages, people having sex other than to procreate was considered a sin anyway but especially when sodomy between 2 men was involved, it was extremely hypocritical when you think of the cruel punishments and methods of execution deliver3d out to non Catholics in the name of Rome |

I was always taught that it’s the second hole from the back of the neck. I still think that’s the best way to give a woman one. However, my housemaster at boarding school guided me into the world of anal gymnastics. If I’m with a man then I’m the pommel horse champion. |

The idea of sex for recreation rather than procreation is where all these ideas about anything other than m/f vaginal intercourse being "sinful". If you aren't making babies, you are sinning and all that.
I'm no historian but the Greeks, Romans and Pagans were busy having fun whilst Christians were busy feeling guilty for spilling their seed in a wasteful manner.
The Victorians have a lot to answer for but you have to look further back to see where these Victorian values came from. |
