WEEK FORTY-SIX!!!
.
MOTTO: We run #LikeAToddlerChasingAPug
.
.
.
Hey lovely Fab Crap Runners!
It's Week Forty-Six!!!
.
.
.
How is everyone doing?
.
.
.
EXPLANATION AND ETHOS:
EVERYONE is welcome in the Fab Crap Runners' Club (the crapper the better).
From 1st January, a bunch of Fabbers began improving their fitness through running. None of them were natural athletes but they did it anyway.
.
.
.
FOR COMPLETE BEGINNERS:
"Couch to 5k" (C25K) is a nine-week running programme for absolute beginners, available on various free phone apps (Mrs T used Get Running). But you can join this thread to get fit by any means including walking and cycling - all are welcome. If you're expecting to be utterly crap at it (I mean reeeeeeeeeally bad), you're in the right place. Join the thread, tell us what your aim is and we'll cheer you on each week, just for trying.
.
.
.
FOR MORE EXPERIENCED RUNNERS:
Tell us what you’re up to with your running, your training and your races. Let’s us know your highs and lows. Please cheer on the newbies and give advice if they ask.
.
.
.
FCRC SOCIAL PARKRUN
I am doing a doodle poll to find out where everyone can get to with ease before organising the next social.
https://doodle.com/poll/77nghmke7uwunrwy
Again, it's completely anonymous and you can vote for as many options as you would like.
Hopefully the regions are self-explanatory (Sorry if you think your county should be in a different region!)
.
.
AND FINALLY:
Who is working towards a specific goal? Tell us your progress |

Parkrun tourism in Cambridge on Saturday and a steady 10km with my girlfriend yesterday. Day off work today so planning a longer run and then it's an easy week as I have a half on Sunday |

How did you find the Cambridge one? I've not done any of them (there are three a short distance away).
Good luck for your half on Sunday! |

We did Milton and really enjoyed it. Even though it's laps it's a beautiful course, well organised, very friendly and a great cafe too. We'll definitely go back as it would be easy to tag a run along the River Cam on to the Parkrun and make for a nice day's running |

It was parkrun volunteering this weekend for me, not had a run for a week or so, so feeling a bit lethargic.
Looking to fix that with a run after work, helping one of my C25K groups go from 5k to 10k. |

I'm on week 4 of C5K. Really proud of myself as I've never been able to run. Going to gym minimum of 5 times a week. Since 1st of November.
My goals are
1. To run a half marathon by September 2019
2. To be able to do push ups
3. To be able to do chin ups

I can’t imagine jogging 400m without collapsing in a wheezy mess, so the thought of running 5km is beyond comprehension! And have you seen how cold it is out there!?
But maybe I’ll make it my new year ‘thing’ .. that or more cake! |

The breathing and congestion seem to have cleared. Energyless still coming and going in waves.
Still not interested in a beer festival in Cambridge on Friday |

Finally have the reason I am not up to running. I am very deficient in vitamin D. This causes tiredness, aching etc. Started a course to boost me back to fitness. At least the end of my running drought is in sight. |

I ran for the first time in months yesterday and when I say months I'm thinking about 6 of them.
Decided to wipe all my run data. And start from week 3. All went really well and no ill effects today. So I shall be running again tomorrow when I get back from work.

Dirt Running half this morning (yes I know I said at the start of the thread I was running Sunday, I'm not always the most organised! ). Probably my favourite half and think this was my 4th time doing it, seems I'd forgotten how tough it was though! Solid enough run at 2.10 off the back of a tough few weeks training. Another half (possibly longer) on Thursday and them it's almost time to taper for Portsmouth marathon |

Once you’ve successfully done a half, that’s when the inkling and hunger to do a full marathon start, along with the realisation it could well be possible.
Prior to doing a 10k I could even fathom doing a half marathon. |

I disagree with you there
I've run plenty of halves but had no desire to run a full marathon
Though I am tempted to run the Chester metric in the autumn
I want to bag the three, 10k, half and metric and get the trio of medals |

I know plenty of runners with no interest in running a full marathon and plenty who rarely do anything longer than a 10km. And it's certainly no because they couldn't do it just because they don't want too |

I've absolutely no interest in training for for hours at a time
That's half a Saturday or Sunday gone
I run a half in about 1:45, and that's enough for me
Besides, I'm more into trail and cross country at the moment |
