I remember what it was like starting out... And it's tougher for guys. I host small group socials for exactly that reason, and fortunately have some like-minded friends who also come along to put newbies at ease and show them that we're all just normal folk really I enjoy the social events too, so it's not truly altruistic |

Awful isn't it?? Even after my first couple of meets I was still treated with suspicion and regularly accused of being a fake or asked if I was a journalist because I was so chatty and always asking questions
Wasn't until I attended my first Social event that I was really accepted. |

Mine was a Lounge social too. Love them, they are such fun. The one before was with a rather charming fellow Hullite. I may have got a little bit tipsy but it was great fun, he’s very good company. Actually the one before that was with him too. It’s nice to be able to chat fab stuff with someone local. |

My last social meet was actually a POF meet with the chap - except they call it a date on there but no different from any other social.
