I just done a ham for tonight’s dinner and done it the way I always do it. Boil it in cola then roast it with a paste made of honey and whole grain mustard.
I want more ideas to do this. Anyone do or different? |

I think it’s the hairy bikers recipe but want to try something different with it. |

You could always use it as a euphemism for something else -just look at the other threads for some handy hints. |

Similar except I add a few root vegetables to the cola along with pepper corns, bay leaf and a clove.
The glaze over rides most of the flavour.
Dr Pepper does a good job instead of the cola too. |

Think you'll find not a single cherry came within a mile of a bottle of said cola. |

One of our favourites is to slow roast it in our pizza oven overnight after we’ve finished cooking pizzas.
We bung it in an enamel roasting dish, put about an inch of water in the bottom, coat the gammon with a little maple syrup and put the lid on. It then goes into the pizza oven and slow roasts overnight while the oven gradually cools.
It’s amazing! |

Cut the onion in half and place both pieces on the bottom of the slow cooker. Sit the gammon on top of the onions, fat side up. This will prevent it sticking as it cooks. Pour in the apple juice and add the peppercorns, cloves, star anise and bay leaves. Cook on low for 6-8 hours, depending on how crumbly you want your ham to be.
Once cooked, cut the skin off, score and pour on glaze made with a few whole cloves added. Bake |

I always roast mine after having soaked it in a mixture of cola, onions and mustard seeds for 24 hours. Then I mix maple syrup, a little chilli powder and olive oil for the glaze. |

I boil mine in water.... But then roast with a sauce made from ketchup, muscavado sugar, brown sauce, mustard, dash of Worcester and a good splash of soy sauce to replace salt.
Its amazing if I do say so myself and not met anyone yet who didn't like it.
Only bugger is washing the Pyrex dish afterwards, it's like glue |

Makes great soup after too. "

If you like the crackling. Score the top, rub with some sea salt then put in oven at its highest temperature for 30 mins. Then turn down to normal temperature for the rest of the cook. |
