We are both officially 1 month smoke free

roughly £600 a month better off

Approx 1300 cigerettes not smoked

12 days of life regained

And 4 whole days of time spent not smoking between us!

Im so proud of us both.

Anyone else quit?

Lets all give eachother some encouragement and congrats..

You've got over the hard bit. I used the patches which worked for me eventually (several attempts!)

Have now blossomed into a smug reformed smoker that no-one likes!

Yup a pack a day each sometimes more if socialising and matty smoked the most expensive ciggs.

We stopped ultimately to save money and for a better life financially.. But ideally we want to go on our first holiday together next year..

Mine were 8.15ish a packet depending where i brought them

Mattys 11.00£ to 15.00£ If he brought them in london from a train station etc they were more

Times both by 7 days and then by 4 weeks

= minimal

Allow for more when drinking etc

= roughly 600£

Ive tried to stop for years , have the odd ciggy thru the day . Did you stop without the aid of a vapouriser, I'd get addicted to the vapouriser.

Think it's just best to go cold turkey but it's hard

Glad you've cracked it

Were vaping...

But we only put a very small amount of nicotine in our juice like 3mg and sometimes i will have a tank of juice with no nic to wean myself off the nicotine.

When i quit before when i found out i was pregnant i went cold turkey but i done it for my babys health it wasnt just me i was harming so i stopped straight away.

Its more to take edge of cravings when socialising as thats when i personally find it hardest..

Another obnoxious ex smoker here seriously though keep at it you will save thousands and feel better taste your food more and generally smell nicer

I never really appreciated just how much I was effecting others around me including my children until I stopped keeping the tobacco giants in riches

After a week of no smoking we noticed the smell on other people and it’s rotten. I guess as a smoker you aren’t aware of it

I just want to say...you are both fucking awesome!

Smoking is a very emotive subject for me and I always get a massive smile when I hear success stories like yours, stick with it guys, there will be nothing to regret about giving up, too late for my sister though, she has terminal lung cancer.

My own success story is losing a massive amount of weight ten years ago (and keeping it off), I used to weigh almost 21 stones, and I gave up smoking 25 years ago.

So to hear about your sister. I guess like most smokers, we all have the same thought “it will never happen to me”. But unfortunately, far too often it does.

Well done to you on giving up and on staying fit and healthy

Hi Boo.

Exercise only accounts for around 10-20% of weight loss. The rest is diet and as those in the know often say ‘you can’t outrun a bad diet’.

I stopped eating carbs 10 years ago and did no exercise at all.

The info is out there, good, evidence based research. Try Diet Doctor.

Well done OP....i managed to give up over 30 years ago when cigarettes were less than £1 per pack. I dread to think of the money I would have spent up to now so keep it up and think of the long term benefits

Congratulations to you both, hope you keep up the good work.

I worked with a bloke who put his cigarette money in a jar in his pocket in work, he did this ever since he gave up smoking.

It was surprising how much he spent on cigarettes each month.
