Was thinking today when the last time I heard this and I just can't
Does it still go on?
As for fireworks, instead of a week either side of bonfire night
Well they're a bloody annual thing nowadays
Bonfire night, New Year, Diwali, When the next doors cat has had kittens, When the drugs have come
Halloween hate it, completely over the top Yanky orientated crap
Can we go back to some kind of British normality and way of life

Yeah I haven’t heard that for yonks either! You don’t see too many “Guys” on the top of bonfires any more either do you. And they won’t let you take sparklers into organised displays anymore! It’s Health and Safety gone mad, I tell you! What’s a few first degree burns amongst friends!!
If you hate Halloween, wait until later in the month when ‘Black Friday’ comes along. Like that seems to have just become a ‘thing’ over here in the last 5 years or so, gawd knows why!! |

Apparently, Bonfire night and the following day are the peak days for hospital admissions for asthma and other breathing problems . . . lead, mercury, aluminium, cadmium and radioactive barium, etc, all found in fireworks.

"On a similar theme then- when did a "Christmas Eve Box" become a thing
Wtf is a Xmas Eve box? "
Well, exactly! Not heard of this .. yet!
But I expect it’ll be all the rage within a year or two if it’s now a ‘thing’! |

I’ve heard of it. My group of friends have done it for years. It’s usually something like a Christmas Eve film, snacks and a new pair of pyjamas ready for the big morning |

I’ve always bought these bits for Christmas Eve but now you can buy a pretty box to put them in if you want to. Loads of designs out there.
You know I love Christmas |

We get those from the travelling community hitching up at our local retail parks hunting you down with buckets with a piss poor attempt at a guy in tow. They tend to get all up in your face with parents stood back giving you looks that could drop you in an instant if you don't drop cash into the bucket. |

Back to British normality ?
Take your rose tinted specs off. They are hurting your nostalgic loaded brain.
Times change. The fact that I can see your arse in a room that doesn't really exist is testimony to that.
Paint your bollocks like a pair of pumpkins n give us all a laugh. |

Well I have to admit that being paraded through the streets with a label detailing your crime and people banging pots and pans before being ducked three times in a cold stinking pond does have a certain charm. The good old days eh. |

Both our kids said they didn't want to go to theirs. Partly motivated I think by the fact that they knew we couldn't afford it. I think it puts parents in a very difficult situation. |

I was really pleased one year when there was a competition at school to make a themed outfit. Bear in mind the kids were about 8. Our son made a great outfit, by himself and it was obviously made by an 8 year old. Loads of kids turned up in stuff they clearly hadn't had much input in. Our son won. |

These shorts stick in my mind because they were really brightly coloured and very baggy. The playground was silent when I walked out in them and one kind boy (who later left me an easter egg on the doorstep) said he liked my dress shorts but everyone else sniggered. I was stick thin and small I must have looked ridiculous |
