Sounds comforting!

I’m being naughty and having fish and chips and mushy peas, as I need cheering up.

We had a pig out this afternoon

Large 3 cheese Pizza Hut pan pizza, cheese dough balls, chicken bites and a big bar of Dairy Milk with Crunchie bits in it

Scoffed it in our dressing gowns whilst watching the Gymnastics on telly

There's a certain irony there

"What is peas pudding???? "

From Wiki ...

"Pease pudding, also known as pease pottage or pease porridge, is a savoury pudding dish made of boiled legumes, typically split yellow or Carlin peas, with water, salt, and spices, and often cooked with a bacon or ham joint"

You can buy it in tins

This just sounds odd to me - you cooked a joint of beef for 12 hours, just to make sandwiches? Is it a northern thing, perhaps?
