I think early chrismas stuff is quite responsible if the shops to some extent as it allows people to spread the cost so they don't run themselves into debt.

Am I alone in thinking it’s wrong to have Christmas shoved down your throat before Armistice Day has passed? Particularly this year which marks 100 years since the end of the Great War.

I know that our ailing retailers rely on Christmas so I understand why it starts so early but I’m uneasy about it. I’m no Christmas Scrooge either, I absolutely love it, I just don’t have any love for it in November.

At least you wait until December. . One of my neighbours has had lights up for over a fortnight, it doesn't bother me as it just means that Western Power's profits go up which means my Dad's Western Power shares go up (retired employee) and my inheritance goes up

I was going on holiday and went into my local Boots in mid September to buy an electrical adaptor.

"Over there" said the assistant.

Couldn't see anything, so I asked another.

"Oh," she said, " We cleared away the summer stuff yesterday to make way for the Christmas display."

Third week of September.

By preparing for Christmas it doesn’t stop you recognising and supporting the remembrance of Armistice Day though does it? Well it doesn’t for me. Can’t speak for others.

The more people prepare early the more time to enjoy all the fun family stuff the couple of weeks before. I prefer that to running around packed shops the week before getting stressed about things.

Christmas is a time to be enjoyed by many (obviously I recognise it’s not for everyone). But it is the ‘festive period’ not the 25th December.

You put it better than me lol was trying to work out why the 2 can't happen at the same time. In fact a lot of poppy sellers are in shopping centres where people are out buying stuff for Christmas so it benefits them really.
