Anyone seen it yet? Saw it yesterday, and absolutely loved it. You don't have to be a fan of Queen or Freddie Mercury to enjoy it. My only criticism is that the chronology of some of the events was out of sync. I couldn't believe that Freddie and his girlfriend Mary lived in a humble bedsit at the time they were churning out all their first Top 20 hits (1974-75).

Haven't seen it, but I have heard that are songs massively out of sequence to fit the narrative.
It's obviously highly fictionalised -understandably, but as a result is of no interest to me. I'm interested in how Queen developed, but this isn't that, judging by everything I've read on the subject.

It was funny seeing the character played by Mike Myers,saying "you wont see teenagers headbanging to that in their cars", after hearing Bohemian Rhapsody.
There are plenty of documentaries for anyone who really wants to know about Queen but, they wont feature a Brian May who is more Brian May than Brian May is or a Roger Taylor who is even dreamier than the real Roger Taylor. (poor John Deacon was portrayed as 'worlds most boring man'...a bit unfait,that). |

Mrs loved it I thoght it was ok
The continuity errors irritated me but then I moan about the wrong mark of spitfire used in films so maybe just me
Very much a canonisation piece for Brian and Rodger
Rami Malik did well as Freddie but maybe a size smaller on the teeth |

We went to see it the other night.
Great film and a must watch.
I've heard that some of the songs in the film are out of sequence, I've also heard that some of the outfits don't match the timeline either but I wouldn't have known.
The bickering between the band members was portrayed well, the casting was good. Freddies confused life came across well. The drugs and sex were only insinuated but then it is only a 12a certification.
I didn't once look at my watch and think how much longer will it go on for so that's a really good review in my book.

Personally I thought it was a great film. Yes, it does take liberties but then the film isn't really a biopic about Queen per se - more about the relationships in the band and the tragic nature of Freddie. Enjoyed it a lot more than A Star is Born which was a little diappointing. I was expecting a bit more from it than it delivered although I do really rate Gaga's role and delivery in it. Thought she was terrific. |

I thought the period detail was exceptional. And as for the recreation of the Live Aid set. MY GOD it was perfect. The only downside was the cgi of the crowd. They didnt quite get the wave through the crowd during 'Radio Ga-Ga' and I couldn't see my face there  |

Seen it twice, totally amazing!! And no, it’s not a documentary, it’s meant to show an emotional side of Queen, the relationships, personalities etc.
Brian & Roger were executive producers, so it can’t be that fictional - and it’s well documented that Paul Prenter was a cunt of the highest order! |

Saw it last weekend and loved it - yes there are some continuity and timing errors but for the most part they don't detract, although using the AIDS diagnosis (which didn't happen in reality until two years after Live Aid) to add a poignancy to the film did seem a little unnecessary - would have thought that Roger and Brian's involvement would have meant they got things right though.
Agree the casting was spot on and who'd have thought Ian Beale's son would make such a good Roger?!  |

Actually we went to the cinema twice, together with my Mrs.
We absolutely loved it!
What I like about it - Freddie wasn't shown as a demigod, he was pictured as a normal human being. No one tried to show him as a winner, nor a loser. He didn't want to be remembered as a victim. Because of that I think the ending is just spot on, it doesn't show any struggle he's been through later. |

I've been to see it twice too. Loved it.
I think they got the balance just right. There's no need to show all the details of his sex life and make it sordid and seedy. I thought it was well balanced. |
