There and to the left a bit

If you held a gun to my head the Stones - they didn't have the "boy band" phase that The Beatles did but in truth I couldn't choose between them.

Definitely the Stones, the Beatles were more like One Direction for the 60's whereas the Stones were rock n roll. Saw them back in June in Manchester and they've still got it

Saw the Stones live love their stuff but if I had to pick only one be the Beatles and if only one album Sgt Pepper. My dad was big fan was spoon fed the Beatles from early age and now my youngest daughter loves them too

"Stones every time

Why?"

because I’ve never really been a fan of the Beatles but I like the stones. And my dad was a fan so I sort of grew up with it.

Beatles , Hey Jude , Let it Be , Helter Skelter , Here comes the Sun , Revolution , While my guitar gently weeps etc..... sound like nursery rhymes ? Not to me they don’t .

I like the Rolling Stones too , especially Paint it black and Under my thumb , but for me The Beatles were groundbreaking and probably the best band ever .

"If you had to choose, which one?

Rolling Stones or as they're now known, Strolling Bones.

Tunes;

Stones - Sympathy For The Devil or Paint It Black

Beatles - Helter skelter or Money (brilliantly covered by Siouxie and the Banshees and the Flying Lizards respectively)

Ahhh but that's a personal opinion and I appreciate they had large fan bases but in their era did the people have a lot to choose from?

this is actually a tough question because these are two of the biggest bands we ever likely to see.

they set standards and their records will always be played no matter what year it is.

only way i can decide is that i know more lyrics to stones records than the beatles but i do have a lot of albums by both on my ipod.

Who, with Stones close second, Beatles not even ranked.

Who - The Real Me, or medley from Woodstock when the sun came up

Stones - depends on mood, too many to mention, but Can't You Hear Me Knocking is an undeservedly overlooked classic

I enjoy songs from both bands, but The Beatles broke so much new ground with their music, evolving as they progressed. The haters don't give them their due respect for what they achieved and for some of the incredible music they produced.

If I had to choose a track from each band though, it'd be Come Together and Gimme Shelter.

Definitely the Beatles.

Though I did get to see the Stones live in 1990, and it was the best ever gig I've been to.
