"So just managed to get a confirmed place for the ride next year. Anyone else going to give it a go?
"
I am as well. Done it the last 5 years as well. Is this your first time? |

No, will be my second. Last year was brutal with the weather but I was glad I managed to get around before they started shutting hills off. I would be gutted to spend so much time training for 100 miles and then be denied the 100 miles on the day.
I know you get the completion medal anyway, but it wouldn't be the same! |

Is this a charity place ? Or in the general ballot as I didn’t think that the places were anounced until Feb.... |

It’s the easiest 100 miles you will ever do...
Do not be fooled by the hype of Leith hill and Box hill.
I got in on the ballot in 2015 and did it in just over 4hour 40 mins
Applied for a ballot place for 2019. |

I did it in Hurricane Bertha a few years ago. Trust me that was the hardest miles I've ever turned. Water above the chain drive in places |

100 miles in a hurricane can be tough, in 2015 the weather was good...
It mainly is a flat course with a couple of small lumps.... |

I did find Leith difficult to be honest, but much of that is the number of riders in a small area and also the state of the road.
Box wasn't too bad, but the tarmac is fantastic so its just a case of dig in and get it done. |

The number of riders can make the ascent tricky on the narrower sections of the road.
I guess I’m lucky as I can’t cycle anywhere round here without having to go up hill. A typical local 40 mile ride will often have 4000 to 4500 feet of climbing. |

Living in London most of my training is fairly flat, I have family by the south downs so whenever I am down that way I often take my bike out for a ride there.
I only live about 30 minutes from the start of the ride. This year I plan on heading down to Leith and Box a couple of times before hand to practice them and get to know them better. Although I didn't find Box to bad. |
