Khabib can’t really think he stands any chance of landing a glove. He’s a wrestler for crap sake but it’s a massive pay day for him and a way of ducking a fight with Tony Ferguson.
The mcgregor match had pulling power due to his ability to punch. It had the what if element.

The only plus for Mayweather if it was a UFC sanctioned MMA bout would be that he kept his unbeaten record . Without that being on the line , the bout wouldn’t carry as much clout . But let’s be honest , there’s no way Mayweather would even consider an MMA bout . He doesn’t need it . |

Did you see the Phil Brooks/ CM punk fights? He'd trained for 2 years and couldn't stop a basic takedown. Or watch Brock Lerner get man handled by the smaller Cain Velasquez. There are no pure boxers who have ever been successful in the UFC. UFC was designed to show the best fighting style and the answer was BJJ with some stand up game to make take downs less predictable. |

After a bit of research it seems that Khabibs manager called out Mayweather . Mayweather responded by saying let’s make it happen , and in a boxing ring observing the Queensbury rules .

But boxers just don't do well in UFC. I believe there's only one professional boxer to win a belt in the UFC, that would be Holly Holms who has a 5-4 record in the UFC. Her title win, great as it was, as primarily due to idiotic coaching decisions from rouseys camp. How many really good boxers have ever been in the UFC though?
Maybe there's a reason for that? Maybe they saw all the other boxers getting mauled to death in MMA. Boxers do about as well as sumo wrestlers in MMA. Yeah Boxing is more high profile and more money.

Mayweather doesn’t have the take down defence. He’s never felt a leg kick and Herb Dean isn’t going to break the fight up when it gets to a clinch. You gotta land them first and don't think it would be easy against Mayweather

To be honest you could give him oxygen tanks and he wouldn't win that boxing match. An MMA fight would be closer since McGregors ground game is shocking. The only fight that makes sense in MMA is a time challenge where Nurmagomedov has to beat Mayweather in 3 minutes. I would beat against Mayweather lasting 3 minutes in the cage against Nurmagomedov. |

Mayweather holds all the cards so it would have to be boxing. Remember, it is Khabib calling out Mayweather for a payday so if he wants the big money he has to accept that Mayweather is calling the shots !! |
