It's all becoming so samey

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Having seen this site grow in numbers over the years, I've been kind of forming an opinion of late that many of the profiles, many of the photos, much if what people say, is just getting so 'samey' and dare I say it, a little bit cliche

It's like someone said 'this is the formula, use it'

I'm not so much talking about the forums. They are what they are. By their nature you expect some repetition.

Have I just got myself in a slightly negative mindset and am seeing what I want to see ?

Or, alternatively, have I pointed out something that others have noticed too ?

In trying to be different, are we actually becoming more alike ?

Law of averages dictates that you'll notice repetition on a site where the emphasis is sex?

I think we all get a little jaded, especially when we try something a little different and realise no-one pays a blind but if notice.

Hecj I even posed with a model train set

Under the Duvet

If you sit looking at profiles all day then yeah I guess they probably do look pretty similar.

Ive found if you get out there on meets/socials/clubs and talk to people then there are some interesting individuals out there.

It's the difference between reading a menu and trying the dish I guess

I thought that quite early on from joining up.

I'm lazy where pics are concerned, and I can't make myself look better in lingerie or at differing angles, so I don't bother.

I was thinking that the other day. I looked at someone's profile on a "what am I doing wrong?" thread and had a sense of deja vu. The pictures were all the "clichéd" fab pics.

If all the pictures follow the same format it'll make separating the wheat from the chaff easier as "unique" pictures will stand out.

Everything is "samey" if you do it often enough. Humans are herd animals, walk down any high street and count the number of people who stand out in dress or hair style. There'll be very few, even "alternative" people look similar when you get them in a group.

Very few like to stand out as different in life.

These days I tend to separate people's profiles into two categories... MingeMan and "the rest"

People are afraid to be different. It's a social media age. If someone doesn't fit into the mould they are ostracised.

This is very true. It's quite character building though

I guess it happens to all of us sometimes. You can have too much of a good thing for it to make you a bit cynical sometimes.

I've always imagined to have a touch of Carmen Miranda about him anyway

Miranda Hart possibly, but I can wager a bet that he's never been to see Carmen
