Getting a bit fed up with fireworks every night for the last few days. My poor dogs and cat are a wreck.
Would be nice if people but a note through the surrounding front doors or even a post on a local Facebook page, if people use it, just to warn you
Or should shops only sell them for a couple of days around bonfire night? |

We haven’t had too many around here yet, however I think they will undoubtedly start before the weekend.
I think Diwali starts on 6 November and lasts a few days so us Dog owners are in for a difficult few days. |

Would like to see the sale of them licensed. Only those promoter's of organised events can then legally purchase. There is absolutely no call or purpose of fireworks outside of displays. It is because of irresponsible use of them that this situation needs reviewing. |

Banning everything isnt always the answer, plus banning fireworks could have knock on effects for other things/sports that make use of what are effectivly fireworks and will probably get caught up in the ban. I would say rather than go for the out right ban just raise the age limit to 25 to be able to buy them, most of the issues i have seen over the years stem from teenagers getting hold of them while your there raise alcohol aswell might sort a few more issue out lol |

"more i say .... and bigger .... firework displays are awesome .... from people in their back gardens to humungous ariel shows .... it should encouraged"
Is this just being contrary or genuinely not caring about the distress it causes to animals? Whilst my little hound just wants to curl up close when fireworks are let off by the neighbours two of my cats come flying through the cat flap. Also, I've regularly seen rockets or other such fireworks fly off horizontally or zoom off back at the spectators because folk don't set them up safely in the first place. Organised spectacles, sure. Joe public? Nah. A bit like Jim Jefferies says. Everyone else has to move at the speed of the slowest in society because there are too many eejits out there that can't be trusted to use common sense. |

"Ban the sale of them.
Organised events only.
I'd rather it wasn't this way but it's the only way of stopping people doing as they wish with them."

You could try a thunder shirt, I do on my spaniel. It’s just a tight Tshirt that makes them feel hugged. Sounds daft but really does work.
Hate fireworks! |

"There should be an aptitude test for those buying them and if they fail then they can't have them.
Really its just getting worse and worse with people just treating them as toys these days. "
something just exploded in me pants then.

I live on an estate in Hackney, local brats have been popping them off for weeks. Poor pooch is terrified but I try and calm him by sighing and yawning like the leader of the pack does in the wild to calm the rest.
Raise the purchasing age to 25 I say |

I don't like them never have, I think they should be for organised displays only, I mean it seems crazy that it's perfectly acceptable to be able to walk into a supermarket and buy explosives, all pimped out in fancy tubes filled with glittery shit, but explosives none the less.

So fireworks should be banned because they stress out your pets.....
Food for thought.....
Should all the people setting off fireworks ask that pets be banned?
Banning everything someone doesn’t like is never the solution.....
Maybe having safe zones for fireworks only would work... |

Don't talk bollocks! do you really think any credible organisation thinks 'lets have fireworks....we could ask dave from the nags head to do it as he has a torch, fag lighter and a van to fetch them in'- or do you think they employ the services of a trained, resgistered and insured fireworks or pyrotechnical company who will have a comprehensive risk assessment and SSOW for such events.
It really is daft allowing anyone to buy explosives based on the fact they've reached 16. Licencing them will also stop all the pop up shops selling cheap unregulated imports to whoever has some cash- then disappearing in to the ether if something goes wrong (it will eventually- on a noticable scale). Only then will people start asking how it was allowed to happen

Why not just make the fireworks without the loud explosions? It's perfectly possible with pyrotechnic technology. I love fireworks but I love the lights, not the bangs. |

In which case, next time a dog chews the face off a kid 'being a bit of a nuisance' to it, it should be fine to pat it on the head and take it for a walk- its just a wolf and thats what they do |

I'd like them to just be for professional displays, due to the potentially extreme damage that that they cause. If not, it seems reasonable to just sell them for a much shortened time - especially the very loud ones. |

I am scarred for life from a firework accident which happened when I was a child and yes it was at an organised display. I was six sat on my Dad's shoulders, a firework was let off but instead of going up, it aimed straight at me, hit me on the chin knocking me clean off and kind of fizzled out leaving me bleeding and scarred.
Luckily it didn't fully explode. God forbid had it of. Hated fireworks after that, developed a deep phobia, would get shakey and panicky. Had to kerb it as I got older, not a cool look. Especially when I had kids.
So forgive me for being a snowflake.... Quite happily take the snowflake title thanks. |

I have never been a fan of them since I saw a kid seriously injured by one as a child. Now as an owner of a dog who is terrified by them I hate them more. Some people love them and a total ban wouldn’t be fair but stricter regulations as to when and who can let them off or keeping them to organised displays I feel would be better

I got bit by a dog when I was little.....
My Aunts pug bit me on the arm after I was trying to make it talk like the dog in the movie Men in Black....
I now have a phobia of dogs and think they should be banned in public...I’ve walked out of restaurants in Caan, France because they had dogs in them....
Because I was bitten by a dog , all of American society should change just for me.... |

I never mentioned organised displays?, im pretty sure you have to be 18 to buy them anyway so not sure where your age of 16 has come from ?
Education isnt a bad thing however the thought of the average person learning to make their own is asking for trouble.. wasnt that long ago some kids managed to blow themself up trying to make smoke grenades. but i think raising the age of purchase would have a pretty positive effect without the need for licencing or banning them and pehaps selling ones that arent as loud is another middle ground option. |
