It matters - mainly because I am grumpy old man!

If someone can’t be bother to write a profile or message properly then can they probably won’t be bothered to make an effort when meeting.

Just they way I see it and I am not saying I am right either.

Its lazy and, to me anyway, makes even the most physically attractive person seem very unattractive.

The worst thing about it is when you check the profile expecting to find people in their 20's but instead you find people who should know better..

I simply can’t read text speak. It makes no sense to me what so ever.

Hiding in the shadows

It matters.

It's a lazy way of writing.

If someone is lazy over their profile, the messages they send, can't be bothered to put in the effort to spend a few minutes typing something correctly then I get the impression they'd be lazy 'elsewhere'

I'm dyslexic, as are many others on here. It really doesn't take much effort to write something legible

One of my biggest pet hates is text speak. It's lazy, and does make me wonder about the general illiteracy and intelligence of the person responsible for it.

Yep it matters to me too, if someone can't be bothered to write properly I already make assumptions about them. Phones even have autocorrect and spell check so I don't get it unless they think "rytin lyk dis" makes them cool.

Matters to me. Put some effort in!

You're hear to meet new people - first impressions and all that!

Pet hate of mine. There is a time and place for it.

In any case. 'Txt spk' had it's place on a 1-0 keyboard when characters were limited. Not needed with a qwerty keyboard and unlimited text!

It matter to me. I find all that so annoying. Takes an age to decipher it.

I don't even know why people even choose to speak in that way. It's not like their parents raised them to speak in that manner is it? So it's all fake and put on.

If someone annoys me, then I won't have any desire to meet with them.

It's lazy and disrespectful on a forum where you don't personally know the people you are communicating with.

Like the above person said, it’s a lazy way of writing. Makes me think they can’t be bothered with writing well, then they might not be bothered in other ways.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

People deliberately bringing text speak to other communication methods would complain like fuck if you started texting them novella-length diatribes in return.

The hypocrites....

Just get a swipe keyboard for your phone if you're that lazy to be bothered to type out words. You don't even have to lift your finger.

It definitely matters to us. It’s a matter of respect, and an assumption of education - and an assumption that we are not going have much in common.

I hate the majority of text speak and usually try and address each point the person seems to be making and send it back requesting they redo it. I’ve also had messages from dyslexic people who I can understand better than text speak messages

It doesn't matter to me.

My brain has evolved enough to be able to read text speak.

But if other people want to use it as an additional sift/ barrier to getting meets/thing to get their panties in a bunch about then that's their prerogative, as Bobby Brown might have said.

If people want to use it then its their choice but then if they want people to read it its always better to make it easier on the eye for the reader. If its been a long day and its full of abbreviations I won't deny it I give up and move on I guess im not the only one who does it.
