We already have that, it's called 'government'. There is no point having a 'First Family' if we could simply replace them with a quick show of hands.
Btw, get well soon HRH Prince Philip, who was rushed to hossie today suffering from chest pains. Now there's a guy who say what he feels and doesn't give a frig about Fleet St climbing all over him for it. |

So we get el Presidente instead? That's worked out so well with republics.
We have a constitutional monarchy, which means Parliament has most of the power. So getting rid of the Royal Family changes very little, and (IMPO) would make the country less colourful.

The queen has no power, she is only a figurehead, i wouldn't save anything nor am i a daily star reader.just my opinion that people should not inherit positions by birth,hence the move to have an elected second house. |

We are very lucky in the UK with the way the UK Royal Family has evolved.
I have and would rather swear an other to QEII, her heirs and successors, rather than a self serving prime minister/President/Political who is only there for themselves.
For those who would like to remove the Royal Family, which Country do you think the UK or Wales, England, Scotland, N Ireland as it would very soon be, the EU would let us mimic? |
