Do you find the lodge still helps in your career? Or has it evolved into more of a boys club?

Masons get a bad press on here for some reason.

Standing on the square is not some nefarious secret society. Do great things for charity. I know one couple on here who has a male partner from a lodge I’m sure it goes on.

Hmm well if your definition of a secret society is a club which no one knows about then I'd agree. But name me one club that no one knows about

If instead a secret society is an invite only club with closed doors and oaths that involve never divulging the secrets of the club under pain of death I'd say freemasonry, especially the upper lodges and rites, qualify for that

Heck, some freemasons don't even know there are degrees above the third

The reason they keep their rituals etc secret, is by keeping some things secret, they keep an air of mystery. That's enough to keep attracting new members.

It's not difficult to become a mason. But once you know a bit more about it, most people really couldn't be bothered with it.

And you can't join if your an atheist. Except in France.
