Happy times. Just had to make sure I did my school homework, ate my dinner, came home on time and brushed my teeth. Loved playing outside with other kids. No internet and gadgets. Happy memories. |

"I just loved the 6 weeks school hols, there was never rain, you could plan the whole week. Now u cant plan a day as the weather has changed so much. "
Long hot summers, snowy winters and all four seasons.
Now they seem to merge into each other |

My childhood memories are all very happy ones. Very happy times spent with fantastic parents in a loving home and awesome grandparents who I saw most weekends.

I used to love powercuts. Happened regularly.
We had an open fire in the kitchen, Dad would often wrap potatoes in foil and pop them in the grate to cook. Omg, the taste! With proper butter and cheese! Used to love sitting, watching the fire waiting for my potato.
We'd always have crumpets or toast made over the fire whether there was a powercut or not.
Dad would make hot chocolate and tea too with a whistle kettle.
Autumn and winter always held special memories, long walks with my Dad, I'd have my little basket, collecting stuff, my Dad telling me that acorn shells were fairy hats, and me spending ages looking for fairies because of the amount of hats there were!
I still love Autumn now!

I still use a whistle kettle "
Awwww yes. That reminds me of my Nana boiling the kettle to make my hot water bottle. |

There and to the left a bit |
So many good memories - whole days spent down the park playing two or three-a-side football, or over the woods for "adventures".
Going to Sea Cadets and getting to do all kinds of exciting stuff including going on a square rig sailing ship.
Going to my Nan and Grandad's for the weekend and being spoiled rotten. Any number of TV shows.
Being taken to watch Spurs train in 1976 or 7 and meeting my idol Pat Jennings - still have the pic.
Summer holidays spent on the beach in Norfolk no matter the weather!!
And so much more besides |

The family dog pulling me round on a sledge in the snow.
Climbing in the guard dogs bed at my grandads workshop and the dogs not letting anyone near me, the whole family thinking I was gonna get sh_edded by them. They snuggled and guarded me, just let me wander off when I was ready. That was a particular fave thing to do.
The fresh air of going clay pigeon shooting, and the smell of chicken cuppa soup. Always being the one to pick out the raffle tickets at the end of the shoot.
My dad coming home from work. |
