One of my earliest memories as a child. Seeing the billboards, and I seem to remember on my local shop parade in West London, a collection box?

Pontefract

I worked in the pits from 16 to 45 years of age. I’m on a few mining Facebook pages and the most haunting picture I saw was of a clock from the school. Frozen at the time it happened

When I was an apprentice we studied the disaster. If anyone wants to know why it happened pm me

Is it that time of year?

This doesn't get the coverage it deserves outside of Wales.

A tragedy, before my time but no less of a horrific event for that of course. I can’t even begin to imagine the lasting effects on that community. Awful.

A truly sad cheapest in Welsh history .

There have been so many mining disasters in Wales . People paid a high price for coal and slate .

I've been to Aberfan the memorial and graves it's a very humbling experience

Before my time but we were taught all about it in school. I’ve worked in that area a few times in the last few years and the place always seems to have an eerie feel to it. May you all rest in peace.

North Bucks

The scale of loss to one area in UK seems incomprehensible.

Will go one day to that beautiful part of the world and pay my respects.
