"I'm not at all superstitious but I'm kinda interested in where they originate from."
Living in a fishing village the fishermen have lots of superstitions, one example for instance, not mentioning pigs or ever giving them anything with a pig picture on or an ornament or suchlike.
I assume it's because way back in the mists of time they may have seen the pig, or the flesh of the pig as robbing them of their living i.e fish. |

I actually know this one..If I remember rightly it comes from caribbean fishermen..pigs are unlucky,they have cloven hooves..so does the devil |

Superstitions?...nah..load of ol codswallop
All this throwing salt over the should and not walking under ladders etc..I dont throw salt over my shoulder and walk under ladders all the time and I have never had an accident....

Yes i am a bit, its because my mum used to be. I wont cut my nails on friday or sunday since my poodle died, i wont put my calendars up till 1st jan. Im not superstitious about anything else though. |

Can I ask why? and what superstition is attached to it?"
My mum used to say bad luck to cut your nails on sunday and i read in a book when i was a kid that you shouldnt cut them on friday. When my poodle died i partly believe its because i cut my nails on the wrong days. |
