Going parallel with the "Emotional songs thread", what do you want playing at your service?
Be greedy, it's your special day!
I'm having three, here they are:
True Colours by Cyndi Lauper to be followed/faded into I'll find my way home by Jon & Vangelis.
(This is so important, otherwise it won't work)
A sad song about needing to be reassured followed by another saying that it's ok to be confused and chaotic. How very bohemian and surreal! Sums me up perfectly.
Followed by Peter Gabriel's 14 black paintings, because the song was born in a dark place, for an artist who had one too many dark thoughts. Plus it is just so sublime, subtle and succinct.
Yes, I do like Supper's Ready, Mercy Street, The feeling begins, A different drum and It is accomplished, 14 Black paintings, felt too that it was written for me.
That's the true purpose of music...hitting the right chords!
I also rewrote Dead Can Dance's Severance for my dead Ex partner! That was poignant and a half, I can tell you! Elton John, I know how you felt... |

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah live at Sin-é
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsyRq0WFOHY
Has to be the full 9 minute live at Sin-e version. Partly because I think it would be amusing to make everyone sit there through the whole song. |

"Abide with me - Emile Sandie ( because everyone will cry buckets and that will get it all out )
Rule Britania! As my Gfs crack a bottle of champers and sing me out with gusto! "
What about its sister songs, Land of hope and glory, not forgetting of course Jerusalem (with the Supper's ready outro as well!) |

And who has written any of these down as actual instructions? Nobody is going to check a swingers site for your wishes!
For me, traditional.
Abide With Me
Amazing Grace
Jerusalem.
Two poems.
How Clear, How Lovely Bright (Houseman)
Loves Philosophy (Shelley).

Right intro song as they carry in the coffin
Bohemian rhapsody, not the queen version but the Muppet version ( YouTube if you have not heard it)
The song played in the middle of the ceremony for quiet reflection would be.
Electric 6, danger! High voltage.
( If I had died by electric shock)
Or
Whatever by Liam lynch.
And the exit song would definitely have to be.
Africa by Toto.
Not because I love it but because It's my all time least favourite song I absolutely hate it.
By I am going to do my own eulogy denholm reynholm style and I want the same speach as the vicar in same episode of IT crowd
DEATH......
Followed by the whole
"FARTHER !!!' scene
Yes that would be a good send off.
I am going to leave strict instructions that everyone has to cry hysterically at least two faintings, and I am going to pay for a 26 year old lingerie model to throw herself over my coffin sobbing wildly that I was the most amazing lover even at 90 year's of age.
I will ban people buying and sending flowers, pointless and expensive.
But everyone (kids included) will have to have a shot of 25 year old single malt scotch.
Followed by a Indian banquet with some bangra music playing.
Think that just about cover's it. |

Torch - Sisters of Mercy or
Celebrate - Fields of the Nephilim
Or how about Arms of Kali by False Virgins just for the refrain 'when he's through with me he's coming after you'. |
