Netflix and chill?

I can’t understand how this came to mean having sex?

When I “Netflix and chill” I watch Netflix and relax. If sex is on offer I’d switch off Netflix and “chill” with the lady (I’m not even going to suggest I’d go back to Netflix after!)

Is it one of those questions that may never be answered? Or does some one know?

It's a young persons vernacular where as we would have gone out on a date/drink they are more and more opting to stay in and invite someone over.
