I *think* it’s new that an UNLOS now totally disappears, including all history. I’m sure admin can confirm but I’m pretty sure I heard this reasonably recently.

There was a notice about it a couple of months ago. Now when a user leaves all their messages go too.

Admin mentioned in a recent thread that all messages now disappear when a user leaves the site. I'll see if I can find it for you.
