Any scraps?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Who’s cooking a roast dinner today and are there any scraps going for a very tired and hardworking shift worker. I’m on nights and am surviving on 4-5 hours kip between each one. Somebody please take pity on me and feed me.

Tell me what you’re having so I can at least imagine it.

Roast beef

Mash and roast spuds

Cabbage

Leeks

Carrot and swede mash

- sadly the leftovers will be on a plate for my Nan's lunch tomorrow so can't spare you a plate.

Would have done otherwise

Apple and ginger crumble sounds nice - custard or cream?

There’s always room for pudding. Would that be with custard or ice cream?

It's not cost effective to do a full roast dinner for one and a half people..

So we're off to Wetherspoons for ours

Nice. There’s a lovely Wetherspoons by me. The lifeboat in Formby if you’re ever up this way. The walls are adorned with old maritime relics and photos if you like that kind of thing.

Lol. I don't eat until much later, so I could change ma mind in the meantime and have a bolognese or a chilli instead. Either way, all I've got to do is sling some rice or spaghetti in a pan. Ma stocks are getting a bit low, so I'm gonna have another batch cooking day sometime in the week

I started doing it when I was living on my own years ago, I worked 12hr night shifts, 4 on 4 off, and nobody wants to start faffing around in the kitchen when you only have limited time, to take the dog for a walk, watch a bit of telly and have a kip, so it made sense. Even though I no longer work, I still do it cos it gives me an excuse to get a couple of bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon in and put some sounds on
