If anybody winks me I always message them, even if its just to say thanks for the wink (don't get many to be fair).
I like to send a wink to see if the person/couple are interested, if they wink back I send a message, if they don't I don't message. |

I love winks and it tends to be how I end up messaging tbh... if someone winks I check them out and if I am interested I wink back, it's a good way to open up communication |

Im guessing here but I think women can get away with winking. There's a 95% chance they will get a message back. As a single man its a waste of your finger muscle. |

"We see a nice couple or single, send them a wink, they wink back and then we do absolutely nothing about it.
What's up with that?
Are we alone in this behaviour? "
No, you're not. We've come across a few doing exactly that.

They are waiting for the message to come from this. In manys mind, we have found that there's an expectancy for the first messenger to put up the first face photo picture if there's not one on their profile. |

But they don't want to message first. Mad I know.
If we act upon a wink it's usually with a message. |

"I respond with a message when I get a wink and rarely get a response back lol"
I don't send winks very often but if I do and get a reply, I always reply back.
Some of my meets have started solely with a wink |

Surely the idea of the wink is to show your interest (an ice breaker). If a wink is returned then that too shows interest. It would then be down to the first winker to send the first message.
When we send a wink and receive one back, we always send a follow up message. Generally we will receive a reply.
If we send a message straight off, it either gets deleted of ignored. Very rarely do we get a message back.
If winks are used as intended they work. If you send a wink and get no reply, move on. After all it’s not the end of the world.
Remember, some people receive hundreds of winks and messages per day. And therefore can’t reply to everyone. |

Winks can be seen as a great ice breaker but I'd rather just cut to the chase and send message, if I get a wink, I'd much rather reply with a message, its much quicker.
I have come across people on here who take real offence to winks, why get upset? Life is too short |

I prefer the wink facility than it not being there at all.
I will send a wink back if semi interested but a message if I truly am interested, just something simple like thanks for the wink, fancy a chat. |
