Worst excuse for someone not turning to a meet !

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

So a female friend of mine, has been let down again today, the bloke didn’t turn up. She messaged him, but the message is still unread. We’ve had a guess what his excuse will be, when he finally messages her. Guaranteed it will be a piss poor one.

Another female friend on her was let down last week, yeah some blokes are really something aren’t they, to flakey to message to say they’re not going to turn up.

So what’s the best excuse you’ve had for a no show and we will see if this lovely chap will top it ?!

Wife came home earlier than expected.

Couple.

She mailed to say her granddad died so they'd have to cancel.

5 minutes later he texted to say they couldn't wait for the meet.

She clearly didn't want to meet but he did. They hadn't discussed it.

When naively trying to meet a couple at a bar when my ex and I had shown them our face pics but they hadn't shown theirs. We turned up. Tried messaging them but they'd logged off Fab. Hung around like lemons for an hour trying to look as obvious as possible. Checking to see if they'd log in. Then left. Reply...

"Yeah. We saw you there but didn't know if it was really you. Would you like to try again tomorrow?"

Just one among many similar experiences of swinging. And you wonder why we gave up on it?

your imagination

I've had meets postponed a couple of times for valid reasons, and sometimes I've had to postpone too. I never got any excuse in the case of a no show because they never had the decency to contact me to give one.

I had someone flip out once because I said I really didn't feel like chatting when he texted me (my dog had just died)... was someone I'd met before and stayed in touch with. He told me I was being incredibly selfish and insensitive to his feelings. I felt like shit for a few hours before I realised how manipulative he was being.

I'm sorry your friend got stood up (and possibly ghosted). It sucks.

We’ve had no shows from couples and guys. Conversation great. Arrange meets. Then either been blocked or no show. I just don’t understand it. We’re not ugly people and messages show no indication they’re not interested. We’ve never actually had anyone give us an excuse or reason. This site seems to be full of time wasters which is such a shame for the rest of us.

the land of saints & sinners

I’ve had a couple of no shows from couples. Never had a no show from a single woman they have always turned up or or if there has been a postponement another meet has been arranged.

I’ve only had to cancel / postpone one meet due to an elderly relative being hospitalised and I was the only person around to take their partner who could not drive in and out of hospital for a couple of days till their immediate family arrived back in the county.

I’m not sure I was fully believed.... But I did give over 24 hours notice and explain even offered to take her to visit as well....

I like to be classy

"From a couple.. she said her period had started and was really sorry. They then got a verification from a guy for a meet that same day!

I had driven two hours to meet them! "

I had similar. Turned up to be told by the guy his wife's period had started so no play. Decided to go home. Seen a verification later on from a play meet the same day.

Shaved all my bits yesterday only for a date (not from here) to call off two hours before with a headache, despite being a chatty cathy all day.

I've had dead relatives and cars broken down excuses but at least he could have thought up something better than a headache!!

It’s good to see that quite a lot of people took this in the humour it was intended. Although this did happen to me, the thread was posted with our tongues firmly in our cheeks while we were having a good laugh over it.

For those who have expressed concern, this wasn’t a random person from fab, it’s a person I have known for around 12 years, obviously we have met plenty of times and he knows where I live, being a friend. So, thank you for your concern but on this occasion it was unwarranted.

Contact waned on Saturday before his suggested arrival time (which wasn’t a mystery but thanks for your input there Granny, the part about me waiting in wasn’t serious) and we speculated that he might not show, which he didn’t.

I know there are people who are waiting for an excuse and I’m sorry to disappoint you, but he didn’t have one. He simply texted the next day to say “sorry about yesterday”. So there you go.

For those of you who have joined us in having a good laugh, god bless you. Never lose your sense of humour. It must be terrible for those of you who have to live without one.

"She’s taking her make up off now, this is so sad. I hope you’re happy now, no show guy !

Please tell me this is one of your wind ups.

It makes me think of a clown after a circus show.

If this is real - she should have had a plan b and taken her shaven legs and made up face off out ......... she could have gone and used her wand and had a great orgasm before phoning a friend or watching a good film.

It's not what happens in life it's how you react to it. "

That’s quite a jump you made to your conclusion there, Granny. Are you practising for the olympics? I’m not sure why you concluded that I stayed at home and cried myself to sleep, but let’s go into this a little.

The whole day and night had been set aside as we were hanging out during the day and going to a concert that night. The post about me taking my make up off was a subtle nod to the fact that we were off to see a Kiss tribute. Because they wear make up when they perform. Get it? Ah well. If you got it, it was enough to elicit a little giggle. The kicker is, he had the tickets!

As the OP and I have already said, the post is tongue in cheek. (That means it’s a joke.)

I certainly didn’t cry myself to sleep that night, but a lady doesn’t tell!

It’s not what you read, it’s how you react to it.

Why the sniping? Some people were concerned. It's shit to be stood up.

It must be terrible to think badly of people that care about other human beings.

I've had plenty of no shows, sadly none even bothered to say why. Most profiles were deactivated 1-24 hours following an arranged meet.

London

Had one recently where it had been made clear to a guy that the meet was a social only as we had childcare issues and had to get home.

He texts half a hour before the meet to say he wouldn't come unless sex was on the agenda. We politely told him to fuck off.

He then texts three days later asking if we want to meet up...
