When I was young, primary school, we learnt about St Valentine, one of the things that stuck in my childlike brain.
You anonymously told someone you loved them.
A few weeks later I bought flowers, got up early & left them on the front step, next to the milk bottle for my mum.
She assumed it was my dad when he left for work, I remember the 'jokes' when he got home.
I left flowers every year after that.
At 15 I heard my parents have a blazing row, they never ever argued.
I realised I'd caused it & never left flowers again.
To this day I've never confessed it was me! |
