Time for spooky costumes and trick or treat, bonfires and sparklers, Santa and Christmas trees.

And I'm still wearing summer clothing

"Is that a secret code like in a spy fillum?

"My hovercraft is full of eels""

I did think that when I wrote it

But no, I heard a skein of geese fly over, honking quite loudly, and it reminded me that winter is around the corner.

I saw a flock of 35 redwings flying west yesterday back at home If I,d blinked I would have missed them they were certainly in a hurry..

I like how the geese fly low over the rooftops. They look so graceful.

Twice this week I've put on a sweater to go to the school, and both times ended up drenched in sweat by the time I got home.

Of course, we have a massive storm set to hit the UK this weekend and as animal experts say, wildlife has that uncanny foresight to effectively "flee in advance" from bad weather!

I've only heard the one skein go over so far. I'll panic when the sky is filled with sparrows.

"I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky

And one by one they disappear,

I wish that I was flying with them

Now you're not here.

Like the sun through the trees you came to love me,

Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away..."

Have a star if you know the reference

Indeed, it's from Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds concept album, I was lucky enough to see it performed live with Justin Hayward some years back.

Yes canadian geese and grey lag geese pass between here and local parkland and the river, and yes they always fly low.
