Last week, I got test results after Blood taken for testing plus Ultrasound exams as recommended by a specialist via my GP.
This was for intermittent Testicle & Groin pains I'd been experiencing back in May.
Thankfully, I have had the All Clear; it was a simple inflammation of two small cysts but importantly, both were benign.
The crucial factor was I raised my concerns with my GP. Both he and my Specialust have both said the number of times that Guys WILL PUT OFF speaking to their GP or another mefical professional at all.
Then when they do, the outcome could be far different.
Guys! It's not any slight on your Macho image to get yourself checked.
Don't put off a visit to a GP! |

I put off going to the Drs for 4 months, I had a lump that turned into 3 and the testicle swelled to double the size.
Saw the Dr on the Saturday, surgeon on Thursday and operated on Friday.
I was told I as lucky it hadn't spread. |

sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you do realise that gp practices get penalised financially for referring people the specialists at the hospital think were referred inappropriately.
So just by going to your gp isnt a sure fire way of getting seen by a specialist.
Gps by nature are jacks of all trades and not specialists.
So best of luck trying to get that PSA test out of your doctor.

If you have any doubts in the testicle department, see your GP.
I didn't have pain or a lump, but I did have an enlarged testicle. I went from GP to ultrasound to consultant to surgery within a fortnight, home the same day from surgery.
Now I have a silicone right testicle, and it doesn't affect my performance  |

Had mine checked a few years ago also cysts but they will hurt every now and then just have to make sure they don’t get any bigger apparently it’s quite common if you’ve had the snip |

not back tracking here, but there seems to be two threads in this thread, one is go see gp because you want an mot.
And if you have no signs or symptoms then i am saying be prepared for them to not pass you on to any specialist, yet alone PSA test. There is a cost involved that the pracice will not want to pay.
The other thread is go see our gp if you find a lump etc.
why someone would wait 4 months and their balls to double in size before they saw anyone is beyond me.
So yes go see someone if your health is suffering let alone you find a lump that wasnt there before.

Where did you pick up that dross from?
My GP plus my Specialist both were of the view that seeing guys with any concerns was far far better than guys putting off check ups.
As would occur in any series of tests as it did with me, the varied tests also took into account any other potential illnesses that as of now, aren't likely to show up!
Testicular cancer and related illnesses are one of the biggest killers within Men.
Give you one example. A colleague at work in 2008-9 kept on seeing his GP about Groin pains. His view was 'men sort out their own illness; don't need to see a Doc!"
When it did get too bad pain wise, he was taken into A&E one day after collapsing at work. Within a week, he was found to have testicular cancer but too late to be operated on & he died within 2 mnths at age of 48, leaving wife & 3 kids!
Moral... His GP said he should have spoken up sooner but he did not. Just like so many other guys behave, to their cost. |

you will find that the biggest killer of men s prostate cancer ( which has,over taken breast cancer as this country's biggest cancer killer ) and not testicular cancer.
sad thing is there is a,simple blood test to check for it.
other countries automatically screen you for this.
not this country tho.
it's,the cost you see.
your friends story is a classic example of gps not referring someone and he finally got treatment when he collapsed and was taken to a and e. |

Hubbys GP is great. He went to see her for same reason as GENGUY , got his ultrasound really quickly and all clear also  and she phoned us with the results. Excellent service |

My apologies; I told it wrong. My colleague failed to see his GP for 18 months before he collapsed and then died.
I was back in to see my GP today on a separate matter and mentioned your comments (anonymously of course!?) ref GP's failing to refer to hospitals.
He said it all depends on directives from the regional NHS Trust. It also depends on medical factors of each individual patient, incl their age & history. There's no clear cut Yes or No regarding referrals.
I've always been blessed with great GP's but here in Warwick, they're the best EVER! Same day appointments, excellent onward & fast referrals plus a superb local hospital when needed.
I appreciate some people don't have such easy access like me in some parts of the UK but it has worked for me. |

No embarrassment getting checked,. A couple of years ago I noticed some blood in my semen .. went to the drs blood test for psa and a health check of the bits and pieces.. better safe than sorry..
just remember if you're getting a prostate exam you shouldn't be wanking makes it difficult for the Dr.  |
