A bit off theme...
Sitting here as you do.. watching the world arrive for work.. Next door is a small car park..
Just watched two old dears pull in and wait nicely for a space... parked waiting say.. Oooo 3-4 minutes, nothing much eh... then, the space they wanted became clear... they carefully backed in... Then the wife got out with her shopping bag... they waved and he drove off leaving her...
WTF |

I'd have thought it was blatantly obvious what was going on here. After many years together, and countless shopping trips and even more countless (is that possible?) prangs she's had in various modes of transport ranging from horse & trap, tandem, motorbike and sidecar to their now trusty old fiat uno, he has finally got the message:
He must take her shopping by only drop her off, but he must drop her off as if SHE'D DRIVEN THE CAR HERSELF.
The ramifications of not performing this routine without the slightest deviation means that he'd either a) have to go shopping with her, (oh God! No!!!) or b) let her drive the car herself and bash it into someone else's car trying to park it.
You haven't said whether he came back to get her. Maybe he was seeing if her alzheimers had improved at all which can be ascertained as to whether she made it home ok by herself. hehehe |

Wishy...
You reminded me too... Years ago we met an old couple on a camp site who'd broken down in an old Austin Maxi 3000.. He was 80, blind as a bat.. she was late 70's but daft as a brush... They explained how they drove..
He steered and did the accelerator, she did the clutch the brake and the gears.. 50 years and not a scrape they said..
Same bloke used to come out of his van.. 11am set up a small table and chairs.. Pour half a bottle of Vodka a wee splash of tonic.. Raise his glass to the sky and shout... Dishonor Before Death and knock the lot back...
Used to make me piss..... |
