In 1961 the Italian artist Piero Manzoni tinned his own shit and labelled it "artist's shit". In 2016 a tin of his shit sold for $300,000
Compared to that Banksy is a quaint humorist. I liked his joke. But he knows as well as anyone that what he did has only increased the value of the work. There are things he could do to genuinely pollute his brand and pull the plug on his value. But he's too scared to do it. After all that... the guy who got famous poking fun at the establishment... has sold out and is revelling in being its favoured "rebel". I can see a knighthood coming next  |

Banksy has pulled some hilarious bit in the past.
In New York he made postcards for a street sellar to sale... Lots looked and out of the ones he did only 2 sold because everyone thought they were fakes. |

I am more that happy that Banksy carries on getting the publicity that his art deserves... he is challenging us all over the ways to see and take art in... it is not about money... |
