So, I'm sure I'm not the only one on a diet. Lost 3 stone with Slimming World. If anyone else is on a similar journey, good luck and give yourself a shout out.

Half a stone so far. Only eleventy billion pounds to go. I’ve calculated I’ll hit target on my seventieth birthday.

"Well done OP

You're doing it backwards x

To successfully diet , improve food quality , and reduce calories gently and sustainably

Once you have a slow habitual weight loss subtle changes to modify rate

Finally after 6 months when the platou occurs or a final push for an event , that is where the radical diet shakes come to play

The concept of kick start is wrong and almost always. Counter productive

Wish I could stick to it travelling a bit for work means you eat out a lot and its too tempting to go for the nice stuff.

Well done, how long did it take you to achieve that? Have you hit target?

I've been trying to imagine you 10 stone heavier and I can't. You don't have any saggy skin, which is what I will have on my stomach (If I lose weight).

Hiding in the shadows

Thank you for your lovely comments

Answers...

At my biggest I was a size 26, my target weight was 11st which was what I'd been befure my health issues & weight gain.

I dropped to 12st - it took 8mths.

I now weigh 13st 7lbs but I'm 2 dress sizes smaller than when I weighed 11st.

Body composition V weight loss

I have a very high muscle mass.

As for saggy skin, I didn't starve or crash diet. I ensured I hit all my macros drank 3-4l water a day which helped prevent skin issues & then worked out, added muscle to my thighs & bottom, where the skin was slightly sagging.

The 21lbs i put on adter hitting 12st is muscle.

Phoenix, your abs are astonishing. And thanks for the tip about macros. I had assumed that was for body builders only.

Yes & no

In my teens & 20s I was an athlete competed Internationally.

I had major health issues in my 30 & early 40s which caused the weight gain.

I wanted to be my old self again but never thought I would be, and thst became depressing.

I keep photos of me at my worst on my fridge.

I'm reminded every day how I looked & I won't be that person again.

I'm fitter now than I was 20yrs ago but I'm also aware that it's now harder to maintain thst level at my age.

It takes hard work but I love it.

Now being able to help others is the best feeling

Outstanding achievement, with a very very sensible pragmatic approach

You mentioned both water and macros, beyond a strong willed approach , they are the absolute key

The word macros seems intimidating and complex , I know it did for me when I began my journey however

All hitting "macros " means is having a consistent balance of carbohydrates protein and fat

Understanding the composition of the foods or so called foods we eat or are promoted to eat is a sensible and positive step for anyone

I lost about a stone over a few months of the 5:2 diet.

It mainly came off my middle. That was about 3 years ago and it stayed off.

5:2 is good for not having to give anything up

London

congrats OP on the weight loss.

I have been on a low carbs diet for

about 2 weeks now and have increased exercise every day.

I used to eat too much bread and potatoes

and its been a struggle trying to replace

them with something more healthy but I'm

getting there slowly.
