Not being a technology whizz, what are the actual risks of replying to a spam account?

I don't give out details although my kik is freely stated on my profile.

There just seems to be an awful lot of pop up accounts that disappear within a day or so

As far as I'm aware there are no risks other than the risk of wasting your time.

What do you mean by a spam account?

Fab doesn't use bots if that is what you are asking.

That is my thinking too. Frustrating as it is my concern was the possibility of them somehow stealing information

The risk is clicking on a link that they send

If you click a link then you’ve pretty much messed up. They could have access to your data and in some cases lock your computer

Moral of the story: be careful when clicking links

Spam may not be the correct term (again lack of technical knowledge) I mean the dozens of accounts that pop up sometimes on a daily basis then disappear. Do they harvest images etc?

Good advice. I never click any links as I have been burnt a long time ago

That normally involves opening an attachment on an email rather than a message on fab.

If you think about it an intelligent spammer (is there such a thing?) would set up a normal seeming account rather than an obvious fake one.

To be honest the amount of information people give away freely on the net is shocking to me.

They are real people. Probably either men wanking then deleting when the wife gets home or escorts touting for trade then get booted.

Some may be real women that get sickened by the avalanche of mail from desperate men before they've figured out how to use mail filters, and just leave.

You are more than likely right. I have only seen the female (apparently) profiles an in the past have suspected they are men trying to attract other guys into conversation
