This is not a swinging post as will be with my wife who has no interest.
We are in Durham on Sunday and then need to be in Coventry Monday evening. Would love so.e suggestions of places in between where we could stop in hotel and have a day sightseeing.
At the moment Liverpool comes to mind (never been) but not sure what is there to do.
Suggestions welcome
Thanks |

That's a big detour - what about York? |

Liverpool is well out of the route diwn if mileage / drive time is important.
I'd probably pick the peak district, maybe visit chatsworth house, there are some lovely small towns around there to find a hotel in too. |

If you’re in Liverpool you can always go to the Slavery museum and you could also go to the Williamson tunnels |

If you make it to Coventry by mid afternoon then pop into the transport museum. We went last week after not visiting for a couple of years. I can never tire of seeing al the beautiful cars, motorbikes and bikes. But the best bit for me is seeing the 2 world landspeed cars thrust2 and thrustSSC |

I know Coventry well as I'm a Beduff boy and the stop over is to do bits with house I'm selling there. Travel up quite regularly at the moment although usually not on my own. Would be great one time to meet up for a drink (I know you're not meeting) and a chat one-time |

Meant to say the museum is brilliant but it always makes me sad when you look at the number of people who used to be employed in the area and how the factories have been turned into houses and supermarkets. I'm the son of a Jag worker |

York is great. I moved there in June and still exploring finding new places.
Have you found whip-ma-whop-ma-gate yet "
Indeed I have. What’s that all about? Moving back to York for the winter. |

When your in coventry see if you can go see Coombe abbey hotel. It's stunning and unique and the afternoon teas are the best anywhere just make sure you make a reservation if you plan to eat there |

Coombe Abbey is gorgeous. Great place for a walk. Never tried the hotel for an afternoon tea though. May have to try that one of these days before my ties with the city are probably severed. |
