Anyone own or drive a Volkswagen T5 van, after been various events this year like Vanwest, Busefest, etc. I am tempted to get one like a panel van and built it up to go camping and see more of the UK next year, it's possible to do it under £20k?
I enjoyed the VW events this year which I go for the day but it seem good fun and friendly people with same interest of the T5 and go camping there too with bands playing in the evenings with bars. |

Yep, T5.1. I had someone do mine to the spec I wanted. I could have done it over evenings and weekends bit would probably have taken me close to 6 months. My time is more valuable so just paid for it.
Under 20k is easily achievable DIY |

"Get a Mazda Bongo/Ford Freda- lots more van for a lot less money...just look out for the tin worm on the wheel arches "
Get the T5 and you won't have to worry about rust, the bodies are galvanised!
On my second T5 and had a T4 before that, best medium sized panel van on the road, they don't come cheap but quality never does! |

I got a t4! Far less bills. And being a mechanic helps lol. I built mine from a standard long wheel base van to a camper but I’ve kept it a panel can no windows in the back, sleep like a baby |

We have T5 campervan, you won't regret it, we love it, it's created alot of freedom and great social experiences, such as the festivals. It drives like a car which is another bonus. Look out for a decent one, we've got an autosleeper. Have a good time. |

I had one.....T30 2.5 tdi
Was panel had it pro converted.
VW don’t tell you but an engine rebuild is required at 150k which is very expensive. Repairs are not cheap and neither is gen service or maintenance. Around £250 for a basic serivice at none VW. Cost me about £14k in repairs over 5 years.
I would have another camper anyday. Would not be a VW though. Much cheaper and equally as good band out there. |

I really want one, but with me working quite far from home and it being my daily ride it’s not gonna be that cheap to run so it’s prob just a dream of mine till one day hopefully! Don’t get anything other tho, I know ppl go on about getting a different brand van but your really just throwing your money away! Stick to owning a proper VW they will always hold there value.. |
