Yes. In France. It was fine. It’s just meat.
I’ve eaten, badger, Fox, squirrel, hedgehog, greyhound, deer. I had a friend that was into eating road kill. He pops up on television every now and then. |

I ate it years ago in Belgium - it has a slightly different taste to beef steak.
In French restaurants and butchers you will find that steak is labelled Boeuf Steak so that it is easy to see where it comes from.
I have eaten rabbit, pheasant, venison and enjoy them all but I particularly like offal which isn't very popular now. I like liver, heart and kidneys but you need to know how to cook them so that they are not tough. |

Used to work overseas a lot, in some countries, unless you specify beef, you get horse...I didn't realise this at first! |

"Yes, tried a horse steak in Iceland.
Much leaner than beef, with a slightly sharper flavour.
It was good "
When I went to Iceland there was a restaurant that specialised in Puffin and all the menu was of Puffin prepared in different ways except for desert which was Tiramisu which I thought was a bit unimaginative. |

Ha, I had Puffin as part of a tasting menu. It was surprisingly good, but not a lot of it. |

I went into my local Hungarian shop for my fave spicey sausage. Picked up wrong one by mistake - I cannot read Hungarian - and lady at counter told me it was horsemeat sausage, not the spicey one.
I bought it anyway. Tried it and found it pretty tasteless. I’ve stuck with the spicey one since. |

For "exotic" meats I've had camel, kangaroo, ostrich and alligator, various meats that I didn't know what they were in Greece, and some very nice but no idea what was in it curry made for me by a Ghurka, never knowingly tried horse though! |

Yes when I was a callow hoof in France - it was lovely, I also had sweetbreads and andouillette which were quite interesting although snails on the same trip were a bit boring!
Tried Alligatoronce in Florida - tasted a bit like fatty pork - not worth the effort.
Also tried a Goan pork curry when I was over in India which had me dropping the kids off all night long - the rest of the trip was strictly vegetarian! |
