Two days at the hairdressers

I’m having my extensions out today and a full head of highlights.

Tomorrow I’m having the extensions put back in.

Apparently there isn’t enough hours to do this in one day.

Is this a common thing?

I’m quite looking forward to seeing my hair without the extensions tbh. And to all the chat and pamper

Bloody hell I haven't a clue that sounds long and expensive,so they can't do the highlights with the extensions in then?

All though it takes a long time to do all that it can all be done in one day. Obviously depending on how thick you hair is and how you have your Extentions fitted. But it could all be done in one day

My hair is very thick. Does that make it take longer?

My appointments are usually 2 Days for the same treatment

I prefer it as it’s not one LONG day.

And yes, it’s a shock to see your hair with the extensions. They become a part of us!

"Bloody hell I haven't a clue that sounds long and expensive,so they can't do the highlights with the extensions in then?"

They ‘top up’ my highlights with foils but they can only do in between the extensions.

I had them put in first time by a friend but it was his first go (he didn’t tell me that) using this type.

They are micro ring extensions.

They were falling out at a helluva rate.

I went to see my new hairdresser and she put back in the 70 that had come out!

I went again a week later and she removed and refitted the rest. Squeezing me into the diary.

They then tried to improve the colour blending.

This time they will get to colour it all so it’ll match in properly.

It does take longer if your hair is thick only because if it's done properly the sections you take to put the foils in are thin so if there's thicker hair then it will take longer but really shouldn't take longer than 2/3 hours to put them in at most

That sounds long, but some treatments take ages! I had a keratin blow dry a couple of weeks ago and spent 4 hours at the hairdressers, I was completely bored by the end.

Probably better having yours over two days, at least you get a break in between that way

My hairdresser told me they do it over two days to lessen the strain on newly coloured hair. I’ve had my extensions put in with most methods but found micro rings a pain! It is nice to be able to run your hands through your own hair for a day though

A woman in my work was in the hair dressers for over 8 hours....all she got was the colour done. She never even got it cut. She had to go back. I thought that was bizarre x

I’m looking forward to using a brush that hits my scalp all over. I miss that feeling.

Couldn’t be without my extensions though. I’ve only been growing my hair for about fourteen or fifteen months. It was a grade two around the back and sides before then!

My friend has really dark hair and to get it lightened she spends most of a Saturday at the hairdressers every 8 weeks or so. I don’t have that level of commitment to hair colouring but for her it’s a routine thing

Because I was excited to see how much it’s grown in three months. Loads, as it turns out

Highlights done all over now rather than just between the extensions.

Now I’m looking forward to getting them back in tomorrow

It’s grwat how much it grows isn’t it? And you don’t see it happen so it’s always a surprise

I couldn’t be without my extensions now though. I’d feel naked

When Jude had braids many years ago, I used to have to pull them out the night before the new ones were put in. That used to take at least an hour then it would take the hairdresser anything from 6-8 hours to put the new ones in. She has dreadlocks now so we don't have to go through all that crap every few weeks.

Ahem. See latest pic. Fourteen or fifteen months ago it was grade two back and sides.

It’s growing well but I’m impatient so I had extensions. I’ll reassess each time they come out and decide if I need them put back in.

Hiding in the shadows

Just highlights, wash, cut & dry takes at least 4hrs on my hair.

No idea about extensions, but I can't imagine sitting any longer than that without getting twitchy

If you go to a full time extension salon they can definitely take rings out and put back in in 1 day.

If you are having bonds re-tipped again it's do-able in a h.e salon where there's assistance but a 1 man band will definitely take 2 goes as the re-tipping can take ages.

The girl who did mine is leaving before my next set of highlights so she’s going to be coming to my house from now on.

In three months when they all come out again she is doing them in one day. I said I’ll make her lunch and to bring her springer... we have three girl springers so looking to make babies

Never fear; I have an instruction sheet which I’ve followed the last three months and I got 10/10 for how well I’d kept them
