Just had my boiled eggs and marmite toast in the garden under a glorious blue sky....aaaah, that's how to redeem a Monday morning after the last outdoor festival of the season!!
Then a text comes in from the Met office - 40 mph winds expected for most of the week! Eeek - will it be the last time this year?!
What are you gong to miss now if autumn sets in??
And what do you look forward to that starts afresh each year as winter approaches?? |

Spending all day outside.
We make a point of having coffee outdoors in every season if its sunny.
I don't particularly look forward to anything about winter but I don't hate it.
If our circumstances were different we'd spend six months of the year in Spain.

I will miss sitting in the sun when I get in from work, it has been a real pleasure just being out there for hours with some great tunes in my ears, and all the great family bbq’s we have had
P.s. I hate the fekin rain/dark nights |

In my case I sing in a choir and our new season has just started. Four lovely concerts to look forward to between now and next summer. The secret to enjoying Autumn and Winter is to find something different to do. |

I love Autumn, the chance to pull out the cosy jumpers again from the wardrobe, wearing boots again.
We've had a great summer but my favourite time of the year will always be Autumn/Winter |

There’s aspects of all of the seasons that I like.
I enjoy the long, warm summer nights when it’s light until around 10pm and I can sit outside enjoying the weather and the tranquil times.
I love the colours that autumn brings and crunching leaves underfoot.
I love sunny, crisp winters days when it’s cold but you’re happy to be outside.
I like the feeling of rebirth that spring brings with anticipation that summer is just around the corner. |

I like the clear crisp dark evenings and wandering to the village pub before sitting in front of the fire. I struggle to think of anything else I like. Will be breaking it up with some weekends and holidays away. |

Like you OP I will miss the outdoor festivals, just got back from my last one!
Though I look forward to the dark evenings and hot fires. I like the winter just as much as summer and with autumn coming with all those beautiful earthy colours and smells I welcome the dark as I enjoyed the sun |

I've already missed an entire boating season as thd boat is poorly, so when she's back on the water there won't be any overnighters. Autumn and Winter bring their attractions too. |

"I love the sunny autumn days such wonderful colours. I also love my sheepskin slippers, more than happy to get those out again instead of flipflops "
But you’ll miss those long summer evenings in the park? |

I'm gonna miss wanting to walk yo work. It's a 45 min walk, but there are days I like to plug my music in and catch some sun on the way if the temperature is just right.
I'm gonna miss not needing the heating on, as my house is pretty much an ice box all year round.
I'm gonna miss not having muddy paw prints, and being able to leave the back door open for the pooch, rather than her getting me up every 5 mins to open the door, realising it's pissing down and just fucking standing there sniffing the air, not wanting to venture out even though she needs a piss.
I'm gonna miss not needing to leave the light on for the dog coz it's still light when I get home from work.
When it's wet, windy and cold I don't even like to leave the house these days!
I do like Halloween, the colour of the leaves and cinnamon candles.
I get reminded this time of year that I'm alone on my birthday, Xmas for me is all about work and making sure other people get their merry Christmas, that as far as the general public are concerned, I don't matter - my family and my Xmas don't matter. Rather than the season of good will, it's the season of selfishness... maybe that's me being selfish in wanting to see my own family and have a 'proper' family Xmas instead of a phone call as I'm on my way to work.

Lots of lovely posts, thank you guys!!
There's lots to look forward too - I do love the autumn colour, going to try to get to a good arboretum on just the right day this year!
Then those cold frosty bright mornings - I used to love exercising my eventers on those, exhilarating!
Then there's log fires and cuddling and spooning while the rain lashes down outside and the smell of aromatic spice everywhere...
Oh but the mud, I really don't look forward to the return of the mud..... |

Another autumn lover here. I lived in LA for a while and sunny weather, though of course lovely, gets a bit boring after a while. I'm a temperamental poet-like soul. So a beautiful blustery day can really speak to me. Boots on. Tramping through the wilds foraging for chanterelles and berries. Then the cold finger of winter slowly casts its shadow across the land and all turns to a still silence. Beautiful! |

Due to climate change, we are all gonna experience hotter summers and colder winters, unfortunately there's not much that we can do to change that. We must appreciate that as good as sun factor 1 billion is, it wont sop us from from frying to death within the next couple of years, and you lot thought the Zombies were a threat
I love spring
Peace love and bananas to everyone |

If I have time in the morning, and if it's summer weather, I make a point of eating breakfast outside.
I'll miss that and being able to reliably job outside, down all the fields as autumn sets in.
Not to mention waking up naturally at 5-6am and just generally being more productive in the longer days.
That said, autumn signals a time of year when wet and mild weather makes for great outdoor hiking and photography.
It and in the later months a day trip out can be excused as travelling to York, going to a museum, then finding a snug coffee shop and reading for a couple of hours straight. |
