WEEK THIRTY-SEVEN!!!

.

MOTTO: We run #LikeAToddlerChasingAPug

.

.

.

Hey lovely Fab Crap Runners!

It's Week Thirty-Seven!!!

.

.

.

How is everyone doing?

.

.

.

EXPLANATION AND ETHOS:

EVERYONE is welcome in the Fab Crap Runners' Club (the crapper the better).

From 1st January, a bunch of Fabbers began improving their fitness through running. None of them were natural athletes but they did it anyway.

.

.

.

FOR COMPLETE BEGINNERS:

"Couch to 5k" (C25K) is a nine-week running programme for absolute beginners, available on various free phone apps (Mrs T used Get Running). But you can join this thread to get fit by any means including walking and cycling - all are welcome. If you're expecting to be utterly crap at it (I mean reeeeeeeeeally bad), you're in the right place. Join the thread, tell us what your aim is and we'll cheer you on each week, just for trying.

.

.

.

FOR MORE EXPERIENCED RUNNERS:

Tell us what you’re up to with your running, your training and your races. Let’s us know your highs and lows. Please cheer on the newbies and give advice if they ask.

.

.

.

FCRC SOCIAL PARKRUN

We will be doing our third social at Great Denham parkrun on the 22nd September 2018. Please RSVP and I'll send the details of the parkrun and where we will meet for a social drink afterwards. Please remember to sign up for parkrun (and bring your barcode) if you want it to be an official time

.

.

.

AND FINALLY:

Who is working towards a specific goal? Tell us your progress.

"Not done much this weekend. Volunteered at Park run yesterday and marshaled at Harrow half today. Did manage a quick 6km this evening which was a shock to the system! Back on it now for a couple of weeks hard training as got a half in a few weeks and still toying with entering Beachy Head"

How did you find the run yesterday?

When is Beachy Head? I googled the profile, but didn't look at the date

That would explain why it came up with week thirty seven in the thread titles then

It's week 38

I went out for my usual 10k yesterday morning, managed it in 1 hour 1 minute so shaved a minute off my last run but still had a bit of excess energy to burn off. So I thought a 16k bike ride would do it......and it did

Well done! You only needed to add a couple of laps of a swimming pool to make yourself a triathlon

Yesterday's run was not as bad as I expected, a week of eating well (but certainly not healthily) and not sleeping enough not surprisingly left me feeling rusty. Did a savage interval session on the treadmill tonight which certainly blew out the cobwebs!

Beachy Head is the end of October, I'll make decision in a few weeks depending on how my legs feel nearer the time, probably not the best to undertake on a whim!

Well let’s say I have never sworn so much in 25 mins the only word I never said was the C word

Problem is that my back is a bit curved and pelvis is slighted tilted to one side.

He said that I am more right oriantated. He told me off for posture, crossing legs. He stretched my legs in to positions they have never gone to

I can actually touch my toes now I cant remember last time I did that

He advised no running tomorrow and Thursday should be ok!!!

Might be very sensible as long as you won't hold it against me

I have a recurring tendency to push myself before I am well and taking ten steps backwards

I'm conscious that there wasn't much of a take up on the last social - and I know that not everyone is based in the South East - so I thought I would do a poll to see where everyone could get to for the next one.

https://doodle.com/poll/77nghmke7uwunrwy

Again, it's completely anonymous and you can vote for as many options as you would like.

Hopefully the regions are self-explanatory (Sorry if you think your county should be in a different region!)

Having two North Easts was a little confusing lol

And Wales is generally two geographic regions - North/South as it's such a pain in the arse to get from one to the other

North Wales is easier to put in to the NW England category

I've updated it so it says North West - sorry.

I went by the official government definitions of geographical areas. To be fair, I think the same with Oxfordshire and Kent being in the same region. It would be a good two hours drive (possibly more) for me to get to Kent.

I began running in January and in the hot summer got to my furthest distance of 12 miles. Was due to do my first half in a few weeks but got a calf injury doing my local 10k. Annoyed as hell as my first two miles I banged out less than 10 min miles and was on to beat my best 10k of 1 hour 5. Best 5k was 30.01 and currently plodding to calf hurting at mile 3. Had a few tears knowing I had to pull out of my 10k event this weekend and my half.

Parkrun most weekend so my current aim is to do it without stopping.

So as usual whilst out at a vanilla party last night I left way too late and what should have been a gentle walk of 40 minutes to build up my fitness carrying a shoulder bag with my new grandad slippers in after drinking 3 pints turned into a run. Then google maps froze on my phone and I added quite a bit extra onto my route before it woke up. 3.5 km in 22 minutes 56 seconds including buying a bottle of water in a pizza shop. Considering on Thursday evening I was cycling so slowly people were overtaking me on foot as no energy will settle for that.

Awful park run yesterday, felt shit from the off and lost interest within 2km as my HR appeared to be sky high. Stopped and had a chat with my girlfriend who was narshalling for a few minutes to let my HR settle. Decided to jog the rest of the way and then stopped to help a faller who was very shaken. That said I still managed sub 31 so the legs seem to be in the right area.

Better session today, an hour if treadmill intervals as the forecast was so bad. Though annoyingly it's turned out nice si I could have got out

Harry, I've never worked out if you've realised that I'm 2wheels. I love that in the 10 years since you picked me up for my first swinging event absolutely nothing has changed in how hilariously disorganised you are

Yeah, though probably only because you said so somewhere lol.

I was 5 minutes early for last train home and had a bottle of water. Major step forward "

Did you get on a train going in the right direction though?

"So as usual whilst out at a vanilla party last night I left way too late and what should have been a gentle walk of 40 minutes to build up my fitness carrying a shoulder bag with my new grandad slippers in after drinking 3 pints turned into a run.

On this occasion yes - I have got on a wrong train once and ended up being very late for my own social (to which noone turned up)

"I began running in January and in the hot summer got to my furthest distance of 12 miles.

Hey _ruit. Long time no see. Had heard a rumour you were into running. 12 miles is excellent. Sorry to hear that. I still haven't participated in anything other than parkrun x x x"

I have done a good handful of 10ks and time was reducing but for now its keeping it slow and steady. Hope to do 10k in November
