since they practise midwifery they are also know as midwives. yes there are male ones.

When I had my first born it was in a little cottage hospital and we had a male nurse to help us with the babies. He was lovely.

i had a male midwife, to be honest they better than female ones they seem a little more caring, the one female midwife i had was a bit of a butcher
