I bloody hate them.

They are not designed for people like me who do not like to blow their own trumpet.

I do a job and that's it. I don't think I've done anything exceptional by doing it. I have no special skills. Yet I'm meant to break it down into showing that I can do this, I can do that. Oh look at me, aren't I clever

I've been at this stupid supporting statement for the last five hours. And I've got nothing

And people wonder why I prefer temping...

Ah you got this. Just try and outline the things you do and are bloody good at. There are lots of sample versions online.

Good luck x

Don't even get me started on interviews. I hate them worse than application forms!

One of the last ones I filled in wanted a 2500 word essay as to my skills and why I was suited to the job.

I nearly emailed them asking if that included a 10% margin and what style of referencing they preferred.

I saw you post on another thread today too.

Hence my shocked message to Mrs T!

Right, I'm going to distract myself even more by going to have dinner.

At a previous job, we had to fill out mini essays against each of the essential criteria (about 100 words for each criteria). I didn't get shortlisted for one role because I didn't specifically state I knew how to use PowerPoint - even though I said I could use the whole Microsoft Office suite (and I know they don't even use PowerPoint in that job role anyway!)

Good luck with it! Your competitors will be bigging themselves up! It might not feel comfortable but you have to demonstrate your strengths too to make sure you stand out!

Don’t lie, but highlight what you do well and the impact it has!

A skilled interview will be able to call the bullshitters from your competitors out but you need to get your foot in the door so be proud and emphasise your strengths and achievements!

Everything crossed for you!!
