It can't be coincidence that the Department Stores are the ones that seem to be struggling the most at the moment |

Think the internet is far more to blame.
If we have a bad cold winter probably be because we are leaving the EU,if the cat dies be because we are leaving the EU it is pathetic.
Maybe it is because they are overpriced,paying top rents in the high street etc |

They’ve had to cut prices to compete with competitors who’d cut prices. This will inevitably impact on profits and also suggests the mark up that John Lewis have is HUGE. Ironic that their largest competitor went into administration.
Ultimately it’s poor management from John Lewis, chasing short term income at the expense of long term prosperity. They must have known that The House of Fraser business model was flawed but decided to go after short term income rather than sitting tight and reaping the benefits now.
They deserve everything that they get. |

Seems Brexit has become a convenient scapegoat for a lot of struggling companies. Let's just not talk about the clear change in consumer habits to buy online now rather than visit department stores.
Maybe John Lewis could also save a few quid by not spending ridiculous amounts on those naff adverts. |

I would have been enjoying my new large TV from them right now - their price was a couple of hundred quid dearer than a national chain do asked them to price match. They agreed to match it but said I should pay their higher price and they'd refund the difference after the cooling off period ended. So they think it's attractive to pay them a few hundred pounds more, to get it refunded weeks later 
Stupid! Their prices are a bit too high and they aren't particularly special.I'm assuming the second half of the year will be stronger |

Overpriced. All these stores who have sky high prices will go bankrupt.
I haven't been to a shopping centre in about 7 years. Always cheaper online delivered next day than go to the shop.
Many more stores will go. |

It’s more to do with shopping habits. I buy most stuff online, either Amazon or EBay, the only shops I go to are supermarkets for my groceries. The shops need to move with the times. |

There's a John Lewis local to me. I occasionally go in as bizarrely it has a running section so it can be convenient. The things that always strikes me is that while the local middle classes and blue rinses seem to like browsing there is never a queue at the tills and just how many staff are in there compared to customers.
I think they are fucked, profits dropping consistently, outdated business model and judging by the volume of staff and their surprisingly generous salaries they get, huge overheads. It's not sustainable |
