I have spoken to a few people on here who suffer from bi polar and personality disorders -which leads to them having lots of sex with different people. Does someone a mental health matter to you when setting up a meet? |

Why would it? You're meeting for sex not a discussion about their health and wellbeing |

I guess some may worry about a meets possible promiscuous past? Or that they are in their right mind and able to consent?
I certainly hope it doesn't prevent those with mental health issues leading an active, fulfilled life, it's never been an issue for me as a schizoaffective disorder sufferer, but then I tend to take myself away from everything when I'm unwell. |

Nope. I have mental health issues myself, I’m not officially diagnosed yet, but so far it’s bipolar with emotional dysfunction. Im quite open because it’s been a long long journey to get to where I am today. To be on the right medication feels good because I’m able to function! Getting myself out of bed feels like an achievement some days because I used to sleep like 20 hours a day and then I’d go months only having like 2-3 hours of sleep, sometimes even less. It really doesn’t bother me in the slightest if someone else has mental health problems. It kind of helps to know someone’s in the same boat!

Hang on... Are you subtly complaining that people on FAB are having sex with lots of different people? The first part of your post gives us that impression
As for people telling us before we’ve met - it’s never come up. We’ve had a few people discuss it when we’ve gotten to know them a bit better.
As long as they’re good company, good in bed (or wherever ) and don’t let us down, it doesn’t make any difference |

I have an ASD, it certainly doesn't mean I'll have sex with just anyone! I also chat to a number of people with mental health conditions, and most are very particular and probably have sex less than those without a condition! |

From my experience, whether I'd met someone now with a mental illness would depend on what the mental illness was, and if the person were upfront about it.
For the most part, it's not a problem, but I'm very picky about who I meet and what they know about me, as I've been stalked. I usually spend a lot of time chatting and meeting socially before I'd consider anything else. |

Being someone who has battled with Bi Polar all my life I take people as they are & try not to delve into their mental state of mind unless there is an obvious problem.
Quite often I'll go 2 days before I finally sleep even then it's only for a few hours, people who meet me probably wouldn't even guess I have a mental health problem as I'm hyper & very lively a lot of the time coming across the party animal to those around me.
The ups have the serious downsides deep depression not wanting to face life & knowing the high's also mean the lows too.
I seem drawn to other sufferers because I know the battle they face each day so rather than put me off I have to instead admire them for their courage to face life.
Live & let live as we are all slightly different in our own way. |

One of my problems was multiple sex partners which is why I done well in the adult industry as it masked the problem & made it work instead of an addiction.
Thankfully I have quitened down a bit now. |

For some bipolar people, having manic episodes makes it more likely that they will have multiple sexual partners.
During a manic episode they go looking for excitement and a buzz, this can lead to being in some very dangerous positions.
If I'm just meeting casually then I'm not bothered by someone's mental health. If I'm intending on meeting regularly then I would tend to steer clear of someone who shows undesirable symptoms. It's not because of them, it's me. I can't cope with someone else's issues especially when I'm having issues of my own! |

I'm more interested in the personality, people's mental health issues are their business. If they wish to discuss it that's fine, I have family who 'suffer' and realise what a struggle it can be at times.
At least now people feel able to talk about it and realise they are not alone.
